GREAT COACHES CHANGE LIVES. GREAT BUSINESSES CHANGE COMMUNITIES.

Just got back from an incredible trip to Austin, Texas, for my fourth consecutive Power Athlete Coaches Collective.

First off, huge thanks to John Welbourn and the entire @powerathletehq crew for continuing to raise the standard in our industry.

Some of the best minds in strength and performance sharing ideas, research, and a common mission to become better coaches.

Proud to have Business of Strength sponsor this incredible community again.

I also had the opportunity to visit two BOS clients doing amazing things in Austin.

Crystal Heinatz at Chalk Training, who recently expanded into a beautiful new facility, and Jared and Kaitlyn at The Focus Room, who’ve created an incredible boutique personal training experience.

THIS is why we do what we do at Business of Strength.

Helping passionate coaches become successful business owners so they can make a bigger impact in their communities.

PS…We’ll be brining the BOS Retreat to Austin Sep 17/18 2027! Be there

13 years ago today we went out to Texas to cheer Mike on at Nationals. Good times!

Looking forward to getting back to Texas in 2027 for a BIG TIME event in September.

This rock broke my foot. The other kind of Rocks build our business. 🪨

At TS Fitness, we run on Traction by Gino Wickman and the EOS system. Rocks are a big part of how we stay focused and actually get things done, at work and in life.

About 11 weeks left in 2026. What’s your Q4 Rock? 👇

Got my new @westsidebarbellofficial shirt in.

I don’t rep many other places or people, and I always love to share all the lessons taught to me from Louie -

and just as Louie created Westside Barbell to honor Bill Peanuts West and those who paved the way before him, I believe it is important for coaches to do the same 🏆🏆

In 2027 we / @businessofstrength will host Underground Strength Con - this year we will be honoring the late Dr Ken Leistner 💪

Ironically, this collection of original Westside Barbell articles was photocopied by Dr Ken and gifted to Jim Wendler @jimwendler who then gifted it to me - I always tell Jim and many others, this book is one of the best gifts I have ever received!!!

Grateful for all the IRON lessons and IRON history 🛠️🛠️

A few weeks ago, the Garage Gym crew headed to Park City, Utah for The Gold Standard Retreat hosted by @businessofstrength

We laughed, learned and spent a ton of time getting clear on the direction of Garage Gym—and how we can continue creating an even better experience for our members.

Tony also delivered a keynote about the GG Army and the one-of-a-kind, member-led culture that makes this place what it is.

The next chapter is taking shape. Same standards. Clearer direction. Stronger together. 💚

3 reasons why I love training at other gyms / fitness studios.

1. Learning from others: I love seeing what other gyms do really well. Every space teaches me something, and the best ideas often come back with me to @tsfitnessnyc

2. Trying new modalities: Pilates, boxing, yoga, you name it. Trying them myself means I can talk about them from real experience, not just what I've read.

3. Supporting the industry: There are so many amazing instructors out there pouring their passion into this work. Showing up for them is one of my favorite ways to give back.

The only thing worst than wasting money is wasting your time. Growth mindset is one of our core values and our #1 rule when going to a clinic, workshop, conference is to sit with someone you don’t know.

Why would I go to an event to sit next to a member of my team when I can sit next to someone new to make a connection or hear different insights?

Comfort and growth can’t coexist.

Nobody's ever gotten stronger and thought "man, I wish I wasn't."

More strength, better lifts, a PR is always a win. So, we make sure we're capitalizing on that.

Celebrate your clients. Don't rely on your memory, but turn it into a system.

You can quantify it. You can build it into every session.

College Strength Coaches ➡️ You must have business knowledge because the only guarantee in our “profession” is there are no guarantees ✔️✔️

You must have and must continue to acquire greater business knowledge at all times, so you can take your skills and impact people no matter where you are, and your back is never against the wall 🏆

Questions for you ➡️

When you lost your last job, how many people checked up on you a week later? A month or months later?

Are they still in touch with you?

And are these the same people that said they love you and you are number one?

Last but not least, Park City, UT. PT. 3.

Another great @businessofstrength retreat in the books and year 3 of being grateful enough to attend. I wrote this in my story when we came back home but truthfully as I reflected, I do believe I continue to get 1% better year after year.

Being surrounded by amazing gym owners and coaches from across the country is something I don't take for granted. I value the time and energy that everyone puts in towards not only their own gym businesses but to educate all of us and help us grow as a unit. All the coaches that I've met across the way and built friendships with, I appreciate all of you for taking part in helping me shape into who I am as a coach today.

Thank you @coachjoestrong & @dan_goodman78 for bringing all of us this year to represent Varsity House and celebrate 20 years of business. Shoutout to an amazing group of people I get to work with every day; especially @xoxoericaaxoxo for all the effort that it takes to bring events like these to life.

Thank you to everyone who made this event an unforgettable one.

Every time I attend one of these events, I come home with a notebook full of ideas and a million things I want to implement. 😂

But more than anything, I always leave feeling fired up.

Fired up to take what I learned and actually integrate it into my businesses. To keep learning, keep growing, and challenge the way I’m doing things instead of getting comfortable with what already works.

This time I was also lucky enough to bring @jess.emily.donohue along, which made the experience even better.

I feel incredibly fortunate that I get to attend events like this — and in some pretty amazing places, too.

Traveling, learning, building businesses and surrounding myself with like-minded people is something I’ve always wanted for my life. I’m really happy that I’m living it. 🤍

Huge thank you to @businessofstrength for continuing to put together these events and bringing such incredible speakers and people into the room. The thought, energy and value that goes into these experiences definitely doesn’t go unnoticed.

Now to put everything I learned into action.
