This past weekend, some of our Youth Council members were able to attend the League of Women Voters National Convention in Washington DC. Oregon YC members spoke at a workshop panel, voted on nationwide league issues, met with Oregon legislative staff, and so much more.

Youth members from Oregon, @lwvme , and Alaska were able to come together to present a workshop panel of youth voices. It was amazing to see this group come together!

We would like to extend an enormous thank you to all Oregon Youth Council mentors and everybody else who helped Youth Council get to Washington DC.

Be on the lookout for recap of Lobby Day with Oregon elected officials!

Hi everyone! My names Chris Walker. I use He/Him pronouns and am a Junior at the Clark Honors College, studying Planning, Public Policy, and Management, with a minor in Business Administration. I am from Grants Pass, Oregon and am a first generation college student. In my free time I exercise, read, hang with friends, and have very little free time.

I am running for Senate Seat 16 because students deserve a fighter in their student government - fighting to reduce costs, dismantle the heirarchical aspects of ASUO, promote diversity and clubs on campus, and improve quality of life for students, be it in via subsidizing certain preventative healthcare costs, making campus SNAP accessible or making advising appointments more available. For College of Design, Music, and Dance students (who I would be honored to represent) I will work for clearer academic guidelines placed on professors and more funding to make our degrees more valuable, as well as more support for academic clubs and networking/internship opportunities.

A fun fact about me is that I love sewing colorful mesh clothes to go out in.

Reach out to me with your priorities for student government; We’re in this together. I would be deeply grateful for your support - let your friends know that they deserve fighters in student government who will always keep student interests as the only priority. There are a number of problems at UO, and rising costs that don’t match value received make up just some of them. Let’s make UO a thriving school that works for all students - let’s make this OUR UO.
