Meet Maliha, Founder of @cafepastel.ca 🍰

She noticed most halal-friendly dessert spots were out in the east or west end, so she brought bespoke cakes Downtown to Trinity Bellwoods mA! Everything is gelatin-free, the vanilla is alcohol-free, and the team is proudly women-led.

What to order: the Basque cheesecake is the best seller, but Maliha’s own pick is the salted thin cookies!

What makes a neighbourhood feel like home?

Kilkenny. ONE12. Café Pastel.

In Edmonton, Kilkenny connects new market and affordable rental homes with surrounding parks, schools, and communities, while ONE12 brings light-filled homes, shared amenities, and new activities to the streets of Garneau.

In Toronto’s Trinity-Bellwoods neighbourhood, Café Pastel brings that idea down to a more intimate scale: a warm, welcoming place to gather over coffee and something sweet.

Homes. Shared spaces. Neighbourhood places. All part of creating communities where people can live and connect.

🧁 Pumpkin Cupcake (so moist and I love how it has a pumpkin filling in the centre)
🍵 Maple Cinnamon Matcha (the maple cinnamon cold foam is so good!)

Closing out September with this. 🤍

Clean lines. Organic florals. A ceremony space that felt like it was holding its breath. And a reception room that came alive under candlelight and projection.

This is the kind of design that does not shout. It draws you in quietly and does not let you go.

A beautiful note to end the month on. October, we are ready for you. ✨

Now booking full-service weddings for 2027. The link to inquire is in our bio.

Throughout The Tablescape Series, design has always extended far beyond the table.

Each month, Chef Kate Levitt translated the colour into food, considering not only flavour and season, but how each dish looked, moved, and belonged within the world of the evening. Colour became another ingredient, carrying the story from the table onto the plate.

Along the way, some beautiful desserts became part of that language too, from the incredible cakes by Cafe Pastel to the Iced Cake Boutique created for Crimson.

On October 3, some of the stars of the series return for one final evening. We can’t wait for you to taste them.

For my birthday picnic, I wanted a pink vibe, think soft summer hues and light, refreshing sips. Love how it turned out. 💕
