There is a particular kind of magic to the end of the year and the summertime festive season in the Southern Hemisphere. The light lengthens, the pace eases and tables everywhere are set a little longer for the people who matter most. At Beckons, our collection is set in some of the world's most remote and remarkable places, where the festive season is all about coming together. Every detail is taken care of, so there is nothing for you to do but be present and enjoy the occasion.

As December rolls into the early days of a new year, each of our lodges marks the season in its own way. Across different landscapes and different traditions, there's one shared spirit: the simple pleasure of being together.

For many of our friends, the extended summer festive season has become a yearly rhythm, a tradition of its own. We're already looking ahead to 2027; it's not too early to reserve your festive season stay now.

Here's to the adventures ahead,
The Beckons team

We started the morning with breakfast and coffee at @appellationrestaurant before heading to @grantburgewines for a very special private lunch.

Our experience included a beautiful garden tour with their head chef, followed by an incredible lunch showcasing fantastic local food, exceptional wines and a bunch of wild chefs for company.

A truly memorable day in the Barossa Valley — where great food, wine and people come together. 🍇🍽️🥂

Capella Lodge (@capellalodge) sits at the southern end of Lord Howe Island, looking across the Tasman Sea towards Mount Gower and Mount Lidgbird.

Visitor numbers on the UNESCO-listed island are capped at 400 at any one time, helping protect its volcanic landscape, endemic wildlife and surrounding coral reef.

Opened by James and Hayley Baillie in 2003, Capella was their first luxury lodge. Its Australian beach-house design connects the interiors with the ocean, mountains and surrounding Kentia palms.

Daily menus feature island-grown produce and line-caught fish, while each stay includes breakfast, dinner, selected drinks, mountain bikes and airport transfers.

Bookings are open, starting at approximately €1,200/night.

A moment of calm from @capellalodge. Mounts Gower and Lidgbird tower over Gower’s Terrace as you welcome the morning with a coffee in hand, or reflect on a day of exploring with drinks and canapes. The scale and terrain of Lord Howe Island stays with you, long after your visit.

We’re delighted to share that 11 of our lodges have been recognised in the 2026 MICHELIN Key Hotels selection. @michelinguide Keys are the hotel equivalent of MICHELIN Stars, awarded to outstanding hotels around the world.

• Three Keys - @saffirefreycinet and @southernoceanlodge joined @lizardisland at the highest tier, with only 155 Three-Key hotels selected worldwide

• Two Keys - @capellalodge, @longitude131, @silkyoakslodge and @spicerspeaklodge all proudly retained their Two-Key status

• One Key - @qualiaresort also retained its Key, while @elquestro Homestead, @prettybeachhouse and @mountmulliganlodge were recognised for the first time

A special mention to @southernoceanlodge which was also named an Editor’s Pick in the global announcement this year. Congratulations to all lodge teams on this remarkable and thoroughly deserved recognition.

For the second year running, eight Beckons lodges have been recognized in the MICHELIN Key Hotels list - and this year, @southernoceanlodge has been awarded Three Keys.

Only 155 hotels around the world hold Three Keys, making this an incredibly rare distinction. Southern Ocean Lodge is one of just two new Three-Key properties in Oceania, with @michelinguide inspectors describing it as a shining example of creative modern architecture in a remote and rugged locale, with exceptional opportunities for wildlife and nature experiences.

@clayoquotwildernesslodge and @tierrahotels Patagonia have both retained their Three Keys, while @longitude131, @capellalodge, @silkyoakslodge and @hukalodge have each held their Two Keys. @tierrahotels Atacama has also moved up, from One Key to Two.

That means all eight Beckons lodges recognized in the MICHELIN Keys now hold either Two or Three Keys - representing an exceptional stay that is unique in every way, or the extraordinary kind of experience MICHELIN describes as a destination for the trip of a lifetime.

Congratulations to our lodge teams - a wonderful recognition of the people and places behind these extraordinary stays.
