Carly and Nick’s surprise backyard wedding.

This beautiful, stormy wedding will forever be close to my heart as one of the most special nights I’ve ever been lucky enough to document. Friends and loved ones arrived to Carly and Nick’s engagement party…with a sign that led to them to the backyard that read that this was actually their wedding! The rain was heavy and unrelenting, and the whole family accepted that with such grace. They had so many wicker baskets with tons of umbrellas for guests.

The couple gathered their grandparents in the living room and once they were seated, they came out dressed in their bridal wear. Grandmothers were told they were the flower girls and grandpa was the ring bearer. 🥹

A special, special part was that the only time the rain let up was for 2 minutes during the ceremony. Everyone danced in the rain, and the night ended perfectly with Carly and Nick jumping into the pool of their parents home, and home I drove through the heavy rain with my heart really full.

Photos are mostly digital, but some are film. The film photo “suffered” a light leak, but it’s so authentic, I just love it.

Panzerotti Day 🤍 Easily one of my favorite days of the year!

Panzerotti was introduced to me by the Sivilli's — my fiancé’s incredible family — and it’s become such a meaningful tradition in my life. Panzerotti is a peasant food turned street food - simple dough typically filled with tomato sauce and mozzarella and fried until golden brown.

There is truly nothing I love more than gathering around the table, cooking the food of our ancestors, and keeping these traditions alive 🇮🇹❤️

This weekend I had the privilege of hosting great friends for a dinner party inspired by my recent time spent working in Italy at @toscana_saporita . The night focused on just a few of my favorite dishes from my time there: arancini, eggplant parmigiana, pork tenderloin, and panna cotta.

Italian cooking will always remind me that food is meant to be savored, stories are meant to be shared, and that when you are eating and enjoying good company, time seems to stop.

I’m blessed to share food that means so much to me — recipes I learned from some truly incredible people (shoutout to @sandrarosylotti @alessiojmdaprato @slyfer21 @torieckert !!!!)

Una semanita en la Toscana, a un pasito de Pisa. En @toscanasaporita, rodeada de gente increíble y profesores que de verdad aman lo que hacen.

Para los que me han preguntado: tienen varios cursos, pero yo hice el “Week of Excellence” — mitad clases de cocina, mitad exploración por la Toscana. Incluye roadtrips a fábricas artesanales; a mí me tocó parmigiano reggiano, prosciutto y balsámico… ¡unaaa locuraa la verdad!
Cenas con vinos espectaculares, comida brutal todos los días y una vibra que no se explica, se vive. He probado varios cursos así y este, by far, ha sido el mejor. La energía de @sandrarosylotti y @alessiojmdaprato , sumada a su pasión por la cocina, te envuelven desde el primer día!
