Hold Yourself Accountable in Practice
Another great session with my main man @aidans_journey_to_scratch
A wet ☔️but cracking session, we focused on delivering under pressure and responding to challenge.
We know pressure doesn’t just appear out of nowhere.
It comes from expectation, scrutiny, and consequence.
So if your practice doesn’t expose you to that…it’s not really preparing you.
One of the simplest ways to build this in is Par 18.

How it works:
Take 9 balls
Scatter them randomly around the green
Play each one as an up-and-down
Par = 18
Your first score? That’s your baseline.
From there:
measure it → repeat it → improve it
Why this matters
This isn’t just a drill.
It’s a true reference point for your game. It’s the closest thing you can get in practice to:
Consequence
Decision-making
Execution under pressure. So over time as your target score drops, the pressure increases — now it matters.
What you’re really building here is-Accountability in your practice, data on where your game is actually at and repeated exposure to pressure situations.
But most importantly…
Confidence....because when you’re on the course, miss a green and need to get up and down—you’re not guessing, you’re drawing on evidence.
Practice with purpose. Measure it. Build it. Trust it. #mindset #mentalperformance #golfer #chipping #juniorgolf

Had a really enjoyable early morning round with Archerfield Pro Oli Morton @changethegame54 - a @todaysgolfer derby match you might say. “It was great to get a free golfing lesson” … said Oli 😉

Whitehill House used to be exclusively private for the c.50 Members but visitors can now pay and play.

The highlight is unquestionably the stupendous second hole (Ramsay’s Revenge, Ramsay being the original owner of the 1844 mansion house), a long par three over a ravine, guarded by trees to an elephant’s grave green. I was delighted with a regulation par.

The par threes are in fact all strong with a demanding opener, the 4th is tight through trees to a left to right green and the 9th, while dinky, has a tiny humpback green that is challenging to find.

This charming 9 holer meanders past the stately Whitehill House with a series of dog legs in both directions; whilst not overly long, scoring is never easy with many greens sloping fiercely.

Thank you Oli for arranging our game, I really enjoyed that. 🙏
