Dear God (Asking For A Friend) by @mateonow

Dear God!

Why am I scared to say you don’t exist?
Then who’s to blame for all the suffering?
Raining down on me!
Do you want me to beg for mercy?!!

Fall to my knees and pray?

PRAY?!!
PRAY?!!
PRAY?!!

End all the suffering
Kill all this guilt in me
You told me you’d come to…
End all the suffering
Take all this guilt from me!

MXDAS by Mateo Velez - Sadboi Hours
Sometimes I feel like I’ve got the Midas Touch. I wrote this song 4 years ago and I remember showing it to my mom and it made her cry. She gave me a hug and I told her that it’s okay, that I’m okay, that I write my music and my lyrics to give people an outlet to say the things that they think that no one else is feeling or going through. If you’ve ever had a time in your life that you felt like you destroy everything that you touch, this song is for you. I present to you MXDAS

Can You See Me Now? ,2021
Mixed media on wood 84”x 96”

First and foremost, it is an honor to be amongst my talented NWSA Graduating class of 2021 in “Unspecified Void” on view from 06/21/21-07/09/21 at the Moore Building. It has been a journey of growth and care for 4 years with all of you.

I would like to thank my family, The Betancourt’s, the Legends, whom I love SO much. Y’all have been my rock forever.

And a special thank you to those of you involved and who continue to be my friends, and touch my heart with your love and drive throughout your lives: @lonijae305 @___________pup____ @chimalyons @iamsweetgrass @_s.atan @lostwoodburns @the_nigel_you_know @bo_o19o @mr_nightingale_ @kai_rene @athena._______ ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨

And to close, here is an excerpt from the Zine I created, that was included in my presentation: “Naturally, our instinct to judge and perceive character can yield our minds from peering deeper into the social constructs people have generated. How we recognize those said constructs today will challenge everything we thought to know about the social spectrum of our society. The current world operates within the song of the once voiceless mass now roaring with unapologetic confidence. These individuals are united through what should always have been rightfully theirs. A choice. A choice to proclaim who they are, not be told.”

Thank you for being a part of this experience, and letting me share this with you all. I hope this can start a conversation in your life in some way. The world we live in has been painful for so many. Give back, give love, and love yourself. ☮️💘
