BEST WEEKEND EVER 🪩 PITCH YOURSELF OUT THERE

When I dreamt up Pitch Yourself Out There I thought that the magic of it would come from 20+ attendees, selling out tickets

But what we created was intimate conversations with experts, hot seat coaching where we broke down each person’s 12-month visibility goals, conversations about pitch decks, email-follow ups that honestly can’t happen at a 300-person conference

Thank you to the guests that flew in from the likes of Ireland and Canada, and the ones who were just down the road an uber away

Thank you the speakers who believed in the event from the start, who shared their expertise so generously. There are soooo many notes 📝

Thank you to the volunteers that showed up before guests arrived and helped me pack up long after guests had left

Thank you to my Airbnb host who was so lovely and made my super busy hectic stay wonderful and magical

Thank you to our gifting partners @papier @wunderbrow @drinkcog @drinknoosh

Super super grateful to call this work

Thank you thank you thank you

pls know I say this with love and because I KNOW we can do better. you’re great. your profile should be great also.

first off a brief lil fun fact:

@linkedin shows up high on google! it’s usually the first thing people see if they look you up online. similarly, a recent @semrush report showed that LinkedIn is the # 2 cited source for platforms like ChatGPT and Claude

SO consider - what are you giving those to work with?

fact is, people are looking at you on LinkedIn whether you like it or not. and not just weird recruiters or people trying to sell you things you don’t want. people who *actually* matter are snooping

my recommendations to you:

• bring your personality!! show it off in your profile photo through colour or angles or props
• have a memorable banner. get playful with these (but still be clear what you do and why you’re different)
• make it obvious what you do. don’t get so cute with wording that you confuse people (and remember, all those search tools are looking at your LinkedIn! consider what you want to be searchable for)

having a good profile makes you easier to find, posting makes you more visible AND visibility increases your surface area for luck 🍀

doors to Lucky Girl LinkedIn open tomorrow to the waitlist — comment LUCKY GIRL and I’ll send you the link !

I care about people coming together. Like, a lot.

Like I read books about it, I talk about it constantly, it’s what my life is centred around... nerd-level a lot.

I cry at metal shows. I have full-blown epiphanies in yoga classes. Put me in any room, or any field, where people have gathered for one thing, and I come alive 🌸

What keeps me up at night though, is how hard people find it to get people in the room right now.

Events are hard enough as it is, infrastructure costs are through the roof, everyone’s tucked behind a screen, and turning attention into actual attendance (real bodies in the field having a tiiiime) is a seriously sought-after skill.

It’s also a skill I have. Humbleeee braaag! 💅

And after a decade of helping fill very big fields, from Boomtown to Rise Festival, I know the core of that skill can be taught. Which is why I created Field Filler.

Think of it like this... you’ve been scattering seeds for ages. Posting, showing up, really hoping something takes root. Field Filler is where you actually learn about the soil: what to plant, in what season, and how to tend it, so that come opening night, the field’s actually full.

Is that analogy working!!!? I’m unsure... but surely this photo of me looking like I’m on the cover of Gardeners’ Weekly is really painting the picture??? 🌱

The next cohort kicks off on 15th September, and if you’re there, in three months you could have a strategy you built yourself, a campaign run start to finish, and a content rhythm that doesn’t leave you panicking the week before doors open.

Instead of another season of scattering and hoping.

🌙 Waitlist bonuses (£200 off + a free 1:1 with me) close TONIGHT 27.08
 🌱 Public doors open TOMORROW

We start filling the field on 15th September, over 7 weeks. Link in comments to find out more.

Dulcie Horn @du1cie is the founder of @chuffed.digital , a creative strategy studio working across festivals and experience creators.

Horn has been vocal about the need for greater gender representation within festival media spaces, an area that continues to lag behind other parts of the industry.

In our conversation (link in bio) Dulcie reflects on building Chuffed from the ground up, the realities of running a business within a seasonal sector, and the importance of staying close to the communities that shape festival culture.

It's difficult to really put into words what the last 3 weeks have been like... Constantly hot, checking my privilege on the daily, eternally chasing sleep, but never wanting the days to end 😂

Beyond grateful to and in awe of all the incredible artists and organizers of the Weather Reports Residency:

Thank you also to all the institutions, creatives, spaces and collectives that have shared their time with me over the last 3 weeks 🥲❤️‍🔥 @cocaartanddesign @musicmatters_srilanka @amesh.wijesekera @dialledin_ @asvajit @perera_elsewhere @mallung.records

Have learnt so much about myself and this talented, complex and beautiful island that birthed me.

Made so many new friends, witnessed some incredible talent, got to meet some heroes and make some art along the way.

Also, good to know I'm still fluent in one of the mother tongues, Sinhala 🗣️Tamil next for sure.

See you very soon Lanka 🫡💞
