Day 1 of my made up challenge for myself to practice horse stance while making a manual brew coffee, where I have to time the brew so I also get to time how long I can stay in active horse stance.

My husband literally does this every morning and says most people can do fancy yoga poses but can they do a “simple” horse stance?!

So today he tricked me into doing it and now I’m making up this challenge for anyone else who also wants to #showmehowyouhorsestance 🐎

BUT the caveat is WHILE making your morning coffee—however that process is for you;). Who knows if anyone will do it but I think it’s a great idea 🤓

The horse stance in the fire horse year 🔥

🐎 Grounds awareness into the feet
🐎 Develops a stable grounded foundation
🐎 Creates structural integrity through the legs and spine
🐎 Trains you to remain relaxed under increasing physical intensity 🔥

The idea is that a stable body leads to a stable mind.

Today was 4:04 but I was not that low and I shook my booty a few times when it was getting rough 😹

The geometry of time is in our memories. We are shaped by formative moments that build our experience so that someday if we do a Brewers Cup competition and tell the judges “pardon me while I cash out at the focus bank so I can pay attention” or have to build a system to structure a grant program or get our hearts broken or have our dreams come true, we can dig into the work we’ve done before and feel prepared to do whatever is next, even if it’s uncertain. I am so grateful for the privilege of spending four years at @hampshirecollege . It’s hard to believe that 20 years ago, it was the first day of the rest of my life. I feel sad that Hampshire College is closing for so many reasons. What started as an academic experiment is ending with an extraordinary dispersion of brilliant thinkers around the world. Thank you for the memories that will last a lifetime, Hampshire College. It’s a shame the world didn’t work for you.💐

Joined @cjmoreorless at the @sassquadtrailrunning squatchy surprise trail run series in South Mountain Preserve in Millburn, NJ yesterday. What a joyful event and lovely community to hang with for the day. We already know Carlos will be back for the 12 hour next year after his first ultra race and podium yesterday in the 6 hour race. Proud doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel.

Also shout out to the #runwives for always chasing down their partners shouting about carbs, water and salt, crew life isn’t for the weak (but we get all the best snacks)
