“I didn’t know I couldn’t do that…” — HYROX Sled Pull Edition 😂

Bubbles & Spidey are back at it! 🕷️🤡

This time we’re breaking down some of the most common ways you can pick up a penalty during the HYROX Doubles Sled Pull.

Some of these mistakes seem harmless…

…but if you’re racing for a PR, a podium, or a qualification spot, those little mistakes can get VERY expensive. 👀

As a HYROX Judge, these are the things we’re looking for:

🚨 What counts as a no-rep
🚨 Where you can and can’t stand
🚨 How the sled rope needs to be handled
🚨 What your partner can and can’t do
🚨 Common shortcuts that can earn you a penalty

The goal isn’t to catch you.

The goal is to make sure everyone is competing under the same standards and getting the race result they actually earned.

👉 READ THE RULEBOOK.

Seriously.

Don’t rely on what your buddy told you at the gym. 😂
Don’t assume something is legal because you’ve seen someone else do it.

Know the standards before you step onto the Roxzone.

Save this for your next HYROX Doubles race and send it to your partner. 👊

And if you see something we missed…

Drop it in the comments 👇

They’ll ask how you made it.

You believed in yourself when no one else did.

Earned, not given. Proud of this team for crushing HYROX SLC.

HYROX SLC 🥈🏆

Hell of a weekend for the @train.rkp coaches.

@colinstiefer and I took 2nd overall in Pro Doubles + 1st in the 35–39 AG.

We wanted this one and ultimately came up one sled pull penalty and a few wall balls short of our guys @richryan610 and @jack.d_fitness

But damn… what a race!

Legit one of the tightest battles I’ve ever been a part of. Multiple lead changes from start to finish. They’d surge ahead on the stations, we’d come storming back on the runs… and that was basically the story of the entire race.

Being at altitude, we intentionally played the stations a little more conservatively in hopes that we could keep the running strong and just feel better overall. For the most part, I think we executed that really well.

Obviously sucks coming up just short when you want the win that bad, but that’s competition. And battling those dudes all the way to the finish was FUN. 🤝

For where Colin and I are both at in our training cycles right now, there’s a lot to be encouraged by. We’re not there yet and that’s by design. There’s still a lot of fitness to build and plenty of room to sharpen things up. Just gotta keep adding layers to the cake 🎂🔨

Next up:

I’ll be racing Pro Solo at HYROX Boston. And coach Colin will be at HYROX Tampa doing Solo Pro + Pro Doubles.

Back to work!
