➡️Swipe to find out what's happening in London for Congo Week

Communities across the world will unite to speak out against the economic war, genocide, mass atrocities, and resource-driven violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo). It’s a privilege to be able to listen to our grandparents’ stories. They have stories they carry, histories they lived through and memories that might never make it into a history book.

🎬 COLETTE & JUSTIN, a film by Alain Kassanda, begins with a grandson listening to his grandparents and opening up a personal journey through family, memory, identity and the history of Congo.

Next week for Congo Week, we’re bringing Colette & Justin to the big screen for an evening of film, reflection and conversation.

🇨🇩 COLETTE & JUSTIN — SCREENING + Q&A
📅 Thursday 22 October 2026, 6pm
📍 Genesis Cinema, Whitechapel, London

Come and experience the film, and stay for the conversation.

Bring someone you’d love to share it with.

Within the next month, we’ll be dropping some leaflets at events, community centres, independent businesses and whoever else will take them leading up to Congo week (19-25 October). This is held annually by @congofriends to commemorate the Congolese genocide and the human and environmental cost of our tech. Please grab a leaflet, educate yourself on the devastating genocide and get involved!!

There is a global picket happening on 23 October organised by @applesagainstapartheid which aims to get apple to divest from Israel, particularly with the launch of the new iPhone duo which features a N1 wireless Israeli chip, raising concerns over future surveillance, and possible cyber attacks similar to the pager attack that happened in Lebanon injuring over 3,000 people.

Please remember that before apples greater investment in Israel, the Congolese people have been telling us for years to boycott apple for its human rights violations in the DRC, which has helped manufacture one of the worst humanitarian crisis.

You can see if your city is organising a protest via their website!

Leaflets are from @actionswithimpact. I’ve tagged some accounts you should follow🩵❤️💛

The Roots Fund is back!

£40,000 will be distributed to grassroots groups resisting the far-right and colonial violence in the UK and Ireland.

🔥 Save the date: The Roots Fund will open from the 10th to the 31st of August 2026. [more info to come]

The 2026 Funding Working Group this year is made up of these great grassroots organisations:

1) Congolese Roots (London)💫 @congoleseroots

2) Disability and Migration Network (DAMN) 💫 (UK-Wide) @damnetworkuk

3) Global Majority Copwatch 💫(UK-wide/ London) @globalmajoritycopwatchuk

4) Migrant Women Press 💫(Glasgow) @migrantwomenpress
