Meet artist, illustrator and animator CORRINA ASKIN - the latest subject of our "CNB Catch-Up" series!

Corrina has asked children the question "how would you make someone feel welcome?". She collected their contributions to produce the inspiring THE MORE THE MERRIER - a gorgeous large scale, interactive and family friendly art work which you can enjoy at 2 Royal Avenue between 4-8pm on Culture Night.

Ideas for THE MORE THE MERRIER included a present of a hot water bottle, making toast or a double helping of strawberry ice cream.

These are displayed alongside Corrina's delicate drawings which record the positive community response to the recent riots. Refreshing and poignant. A beautiful reminder of small everyday gestures and their value.

I had the privilege to meet the magical Manchán Magan with his wonderful wife Aisling in Dalkey 6 years ago with my culinary mentor @carmelsomerschef & @nialltyrrell 💚 and when I saw this enchanting art exhibition during my recent stay at @theharrisonbelfast visiting the Fleadh. It brought back a lot of heartwarming memories of this incredible man never forgotten who touched us all.

The Magic of Manchán Magan Exhibition by Corrina Askin: A retrospective art show running at The Harrison in Belfast. The event showcases the Askin’s collection of visual works celebrating creativity, music, and imagination inspired by Magan’s deep connection to the Irish landscape.

Manchán highly praised Corrina Askin's distinct sense of humour and ability to breathe life into his linguistic research without being overly formal.

Before his passing, Manchán wrote the following regarding Askin's work for their collaborative art showcase, The Magic of Manchán Magan:

“Corrina has this lovely devilish sense of humour. I knew that she wasn't going to be overly pious about the work; she was going to extract her own personal angle from it and then make it come alive, which is exactly what she's done.”
