If you can get in, you should start your night at Good Time Country Buffet, where, for only $26.99, you can eat all you want of southern classics like meatloaf, collard greens, mac and cheese, and fried chicken.

9:00pm: LBJ: The Play, Paradise Factory, 64 E 4th St.
Then head to Paradise Factory to to catch one of LA Times' favorite shows at the 2024 Netflix is a Joke Festival! It's also presented by Jo Firestone and co-directed by Andrew Barth Feldman, so you KNOW it's going to be hysterical! A 5th grade teacher hires local performer Sunny Zimmerman to give a simple historical presentation as LBJ. The only problem? Sunny’s gone method. They’ve been living and breathing as LBJ, and LBJ has decided that this is his one chance to salvage his legacy – with an ambitious theatrical production. As his vision doesn't go according to plan, the boundaries between actor and role become increasingly blurred. This is one of the shows we're excited for this month!

I’m partial to my he/him and she/her beagles (I’m learnin’) over any feline, but I appreciate this young vet tech and all the resources that he’s invested in my play! Good on you, son.

Cory Epstein first met Sunny in 2012 during their time together at Vassar as they canvassed for a congressional candidate in Poughkeepsie, and he is thrilled to have come full circle, making his producing debut on this awesome, politically-inspired work. He is a communications professional based in Brooklyn, where he lives with his husband and 4.5-year-old Australian Shepherd (not pictured).

What’s the only thing harder than being president? Mounting an off-Broadway run of your original play. Those big city theater folks aren’t pullin’ punches! They can actually be quite hurtful…

But we’re gonna show them! For all of October, we’ll be doing my original play on Manhattan’s Lower East Side! For those non-New Yorkers, Manhattan is the most phallic of the boroughs.

But before we can make that happen, I need to do something that for a man is even harder than being president or mounting a play: asking for help. We can’t make it to NYC without your support!
