POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We love a roster that looks a little eclectic 💃

A lot has been happening behind the scenes at Consciously Produced this summer. New podcasts, creative campaigns, documentary work…plenty to keep us busy!

Have a project you would like to see come to life? Let’s talk. We are now on the lookout for our fall/winter 2026 projects.

Let us de-influence you, creative project edition 🧐

A few things we have learned from producing creative projects, podcasts, conferences, residencies, and other things that do not always fit neatly into a category.

More money can create more possibilities, but knowing what you are making and why still matters more. In January 2025, we made a conference info video on a pretty small budget with our amazing videographer Martin Nunez-Bonilla @mnbnyc. We wanted it to feel like an old VHS tape. A little scrappy, a little weird, and very clear that we had fun making it. The physical and financial limitations actually helped us get there.

For Space Camp 2026, we prioritized spaces that were close to one another rather than chasing the most impressive venues around NYC. Some of our favorite moments ended up happening in these unexpected spaces.

We are big believers in taking your timeeee. For the live events we produce, that can mean an hour or even two for lunch, breaks, conversation, wandering around, or taking some time to journal/reflect. People need space to process what they are experiencing and actually connect with each other.

In 2025, we thought the CRCI artist residents would be going on a microgravity flight. Ultimately, they decided against it. But changing course opened up other activities and opportunities that ended up furthering the research in ways they could not have planned at the beginning.

CRCI has built a small but mighty community. We believe that twenty deeply engaged people can sometimes do more for a project than 20,000 followers scrolling past it. Scale is not always the measure of impact.

And that is a big part of what we are here for at Consciously Produced. Whether we are producing a live event or working behind the scenes on a podcast, we want the people making and experiencing the work to feel held and taken care of.

Season 2 of Dances with Robots is out now, and Episode 1 is available on fine podcast platforms everywhere. This is a podcast where dance meets the technologies coming for all of us. We started with choreorobotics, and now we're doing outer space. It still feels like a small miracle that we get to make this thing. This season, we sat down with an incredible gaggle of artists, technologists, and thinkers. Every conversation reminded me why this work matters, and what a privilege it is to produce such unlikely shenanigans with these particular and excellent nerds.

Give Episode 1 a listen, and if you know a fellow traveler who'd enjoy it, send it their way.

Play is essential to creative work, but it’s something we often lose in a culture shaped by speed and output.

Last year, Consciously Produced put together an artistic residency for @crciverse supported by @baibrownu, for artists to experiment in settings that might mimic “anti-gravity.” One of our first stops was a @skyzone trampoline park.

We realized pretty quickly it wasn’t exactly the best place to start the research, but for those few hours, it offered something else: play, fun, experimentation, with very little need for results.

Here is your Friday reminder to make space for a bit of play and inner child exploration this weekend!

A peek into the work...

Grateful to our partners at Reforesters Laboratory (@reforesters.io) in Brooklyn, NY for hosting our workshops this week in their magical light filled oasis as part of CRCI’s (@crciverse) Space Camp 2026. It was the perfect space to attune the body, sit with uncertainty, and imagine beyond the extractive narratives that have long defined space exploration.

We’re so excited to be featured in @nytimes ✨

Thank you New York Times, to @margaretfuhrer for the piece, and to @tesslomayer for the absolutely incredible photos (Tess your care with sensitive images in the pool really made us feel seen and supported - you rock!)

We also wanted to share a few clarifications to more fully and accurately reflect how this work came together:

Space Camp was hosted by @crciverse, curated by @arianelmichaud , and organized by the @consciouslyproduced team, with a huge shoutout to @infynnitude for making it all happen, @mnbnyc for jumping in whole heartedly as our CP photographer and videographer, @agualani for branding support, and @breathengo for driving the camp van!

This work would not exist without the artists at its center: @misterfig_ , @sashafiercepeterson , @kcgow , and @la.frank and our newest addition this year @_dimikala 🪐

With immense gratitude to the collaborators who shaped the week: @adeened , @marcy2hollywood , @thespacejuggler , @sagenijawhitson , alongside the amazing cohort of artists that joined us. And of course, @sydneyskybetter for bringing us all along on this journey.

And finally a huge thanks to our incredible partners who helped bring this to life: @streb_lab, @vesselfloats , @reforesters.io , and @soundawn_nyc 🤍

We’re proud to see this work recognized, and even more proud of the people who made it happen. We’re looking forward to future coverage in the @nytimes !

A week of flying, falling, and finding new challenges ✨

Thank you to STREB for partnering with us on such an ambitious week of PopAction, trampoline, and trapeze. You created a truly special space where we could play with gravity, simulate flight, and move in ways that challenged both body and mind.

To Cassandre, Bobby, Mary, and all of the incredible teachers, thank you for everything you did to make this week possible. We felt so supported, so seen, so welcomed by all of your actions and words. And extra gratitude to Mary for stepping in and helping us navigate a last-minute hiccup with such care!

Space Camp would not have been the same without you 🚀

A few of our favorite moments from last week’s Space Camp, taken by @mnbnyc.

Trapeze and trampoline at @streb_lab, masterclass with @la.frank at @estiahouseofmovement , sound bath with @soundawn_nyc, floats at @vesselfloats, workshops and conversations guided by @adeened and @marcy2hollywood, and workshops with @thespacejuggler.

Just a truly special week, with special people.

“When we enter space, we bring our culture with us” — Adeene Denton @adeened

A huge thank you to the kind folks at @reforesters.io for hosting us for The Ethics of Bodies in Space as part of CRCI’s (@crciverse) inaugural Space Camp 2026. We could not have asked for a better — or more beautiful — space to blast off from.

As we dive into day 1 of 2026’s Space Camp, we thought we’d look back at a few of the events we had at the Conference for Research of Choreographic Interfaces (@crciverse): MOONDANCE 2025 including a masterclass with Michael Figueroa @misterfig_ , COMMIT! with Kate Ladenheim (@kateladenheim) and How To Dance With And Rapidly Deactivate A Robot with Jessica Rajko (@jessicarajko & collaborators.)

Looking forward to sharing more of what we’ve been up to this week 🌌

🪐 If you wanted to head to space, dancers probably wouldn’t be among the first experts you’d consult. But @sydneyskybetter, founder of the Conference for Research on Choreographic Interfaces, thinks they should be. “As commercial space travel scales up, as space stations and lunar habitats get built, someone’s going to have to think about how those human bodies move and orient and interact in those environments—and I think that should be dance artists,” he says. Right now, he points out, the future of human movement beyond Earth is being designed almost entirely by billionaires and government entities. “These are not folks thinking about bodies with the same rigor or care or equity consciousness as dancers,” he says.

That’s why this year’s theme for @crciverse is “Space Camp.” The annual conference always brings together a wildly diverse group of scientists, artists, and other kinds of thinkers to explore how choreographic intelligence can inform emerging technologies. The 2026 iteration, taking place March 17–19 in Brooklyn, New York, will explore how dance principles can impact how humans move in space.
