I’m thrilled to have been invited as a patient reporter for @ibdsocialcircle at ACG 2026 in Nashville! It was my first time reporting at a medical conference, and I was fortunate to share the experience with seasoned patient advocate Amber Tresca of @about_ibd, my Nashville pardner! 🤠 Together, we’re the ACGs, Aunties with Colitis & Grit!

We’re both in our 50s, navigating menopause alongside ulcerative colitis, and asking ourselves: What does aging well with IBD look like?

I don’t know what I don’t know. But I came with plenty of questions and maximum hope. We want decades of living well ahead of us, and we hope to inspire younger patients to believe that a full, joyful life with IBD is possible.

Between exploring research, meeting remarkable physicians like Dr. Folasade P. May @drfolamay, Dr. Aline Charabaty @dcharabaty, and Dr. Trisha Pasricha @trishapasrichamd, connecting with GI Psychology, celebrating @saia.gi’s fifth anniversary, and enjoying some Nashville karaoke hosted by @ebmedgi at Friends in Low Places, there was so much to take in!

But my favorite discovery? Finding someone who gets it.

Amber, thank you for the laughter, friendship, and for being my safe space in Nashville. ❤️

Aging with IBD isn’t always easy, but with the right people beside us, there’s still so much room for joy, purpose, and a little sparkle. We’re more than our diagnoses. And we’ve got plenty of living left to do!

Thank you, IBD Social Circle, for bringing us together! Maraming Salamat! ♥️

Back from ACG and jumped right in to the weekend call but had to gram these wonderful memories from Nashville! What a blast 💥

🏆 ACG Service Award for Colorectal Cancer Outreach, Prevention and Year-Round Excellence 4 years in a row but extra special this time for leading a multilingual colorectal cancer prevention and awareness campaign alongside an incredible team of Evidence-Based GI (EBGI) ambassadors, using our collective voices to make health education more accessible to the communities we serve.
🏅 Presidential Poster Award for our industry-funded, investigator initiated study "PillSense as a Triage Tool for Safe Discharge in Hospitalized Patients with Positive Hemoccult and/or Unexplained Anemia"
🥇Outstanding research award on our study "The role of IL-23 in pouchitis for patients with Ileal pouch-anal anastomosis"
🤝 Attending my first ACG Educational Affairs Committee meeting, an exciting opportunity to contribute to the educational mission of an organization that has played such an important role in my own professional development.

But perhaps the most rewarding part of this meeting was, as always, the people ✨ The friends who stand by us through the highs and lows, the mentors who continue to guide and inspire us, and the colleagues who make this journey so meaningful. It was especially fulfilling to cheer on my mentees as they presented research we had worked on together and received well-deserved recognition. Watching them grow in confidence, find their voices, and take pride in their accomplishments was such a joy 🎉🎊

Left #ACG2026 with a grateful heart, renewed purpose, and a beginning of an even more exciting chapter.

ACG ‘26 was trulyyy something special 🥹❤️ A lot of learning, a lot of meaningful conversations, and even more reasons to appreciate being part of this field. But my favorite part will alwayssss be reconnecting with my people 🫶🏽 GI has the BEST community, and there’s really no back and forth about it 🤭❤️

@amcollegegastro 2026: The unofficial highlights reel.

The moments that didn’t quite make it into my LinkedIn posts.

Between the science, meetings, presentations, and packed schedules, there was plenty of laughter, late nights, dancing, reconnecting with old friends, and making new ones.

Because as much as I love what we do, it’s the people who make this community so special. Some of the best memories happen outside the conference halls.

Great science. Even better company. Very little sleep. And absolutely worth it. ❤️
