After Solidarity Sunday, 11 October 2026, 3:00 pm WDC Hub at the Museum Angewandte Kunst, Schaumainkai 17, Frankfurt __________ next week, together with @de_colonialanguage and @grace.euna.kim, we’re organizing the performance-playspace “after solidarity” at the museum angewandte kunst @museumangewandtekunst when I first came to germany to study in 2013, the first city where I lived for half a year was mainz, with all its young wine and carnival fountain. that’s why I feel a bit sentimental returning to this region—no longer as a student with broken german, but as a cultural worker.

A project as part of WDC 2026 @wdc2026 WDC 2026 is funded by the State of Hesse, the City of Frankfurt/Main and the Kulturfonds Frankfurt RheinMain. The project is supported by Federal Agency for Civic Education/bpb.

August-September were wonderful: Berlin prolonged summer at its finest! I’ve enjoyed quality time with my friends, good food and some culture. And also writing, writing, writing.

🟥 Even speaking Ukrainian can get you punished Witness accounts reveal how Russia is deliberately erasing the Ukrainian language in the temporarily occupied territories. – Materials collected by East SOS 🟥 "[Pro-Russian DPR militia could persecute people simply on suspicion of pro-Ukrainian views] basically for nothing at all. If, God forbid, you happened to say something in Ukrainian, that was enough. They could detain and torture you." — Anastasiia, civilian Donetsk region (2014) 🟥 "If you are a child aged 12–15 and speak Ukrainian during a school break, you may be summoned to the principal's office. The principal, in the presence of some man wearing a St. George ribbon, might insult you with obscene language and even threaten that your parents could be taken away — to the armed formations, let's put it that way." — Anastasiia, civilian Donetsk region (2014) 🟥 "Under occupation, all subjects are taught in Russian as the state language. Naturally, everyday communication is also conducted in Russian. The curriculum includes English, while Ukrainian is offered only through optional classes or extracurricular activities. In theory, it can still be studied, but only if parents submit a formal request. At the same time, parents are afraid to file requests that they want their children to learn Ukrainian." — Maryna, civilian Zaporizhzhia region (2022) 🟥 "They [the occupiers] arrived with a prepared list of textbooks they wanted removed. Among them were textbooks on Defence of Ukraine, the subject I teach, as well as Ukrainian language, Ukrainian literature, and the history of Ukraine. In other words, everything connected with Ukraine. And of course, books by all our Ukrainian authors — everything was taken." — Mykhailo, teacher Kharkiv region (2022) [Source: East SOS]

Trees, Soil, and Water as Witness Sat, 12 September | 1 – 5 pm For adults | In English At Spore Initiative (Hermannstr. 86, Neukölln) “Trees, Soil, and Water as Witnesses: The Environmental Consequences of Russian and Soviet Colonial Policies”, published in July 2026 by @beda_media with support from @oi.publishing , collects essays on the ecologies of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Armenia, the Palessie Lowland stretching across Belarus and Ukraine, the Tuvan Republic, and the Nogai Steppe in present-day Russia. Together, the essays reveal how colonial structures operate and the lasting impact they have on landscapes, climate, and communities. This event brings together a conversation and Q&A with the book's editors and authors, a discussion with the co-founder of @asiansofrussia on the ecological situation in North Asia, a food ritual, and the chance to buy a copy.  No registration needed. More info on the Spore website. Images: Julietta Grigoryan & Denis-Esakov

REMINDER! TOMORROW 6-7:30pm Power Elastics - Rain Wegmann Workshop @rain_vv_a 7:30pm Intro @michelafilzi @jakobmargitwirth @carmencarolinas @marinaresende.s and Food by Küfa bike 8pm de_colonialanguage - Participatory installation @de_colonialanguage 9-10pm “The way things last” -Film screening in the yard + Q&A @urban_fragment_observatory Power Elastics, a practice between soft lecture performance and an embodied working. Through playful flows, critical conversations, and elastic bands, we explore how resilience and elasticity can become tools for collective agency and empower us to resist systems that fracture both ecosystems and communities. de_colonialanguage transforms the public sphere into a collaborative archive, inviting passersby to contribute words that map Wedding’s colonial history onto the space through interactive poetry creation. [ufo ufo] - “The Way Things Lasts” visualizes the emergence of self-organized urban spaces and how collectives sustain these fragile urban environments; the 15-minute screening of the work is followed by a 20-minute Q&A. We look forward to having you!
