The tradition continues. We can’t wait for the kids to drop by and paint Halloween characters on our windows.

Thank you to all who came out for the open studio!!! I appreciate everyone hustling to come out on a Monday afternoon. There’s a lot of focus in these shots!! We had a small watercolor practice that we all got quite into…including a couple of curious adults. Thank you Kristi and Colin! A very special thank you to Alina who helped me prepare for the guests! You are a gem!

‘Changing Blues’ - Watercolor and my favorite sea salt from the Sea of Cortez. This salt is the perfect size grain to make mesmerizing formations.

My name is Deborah Allen (Deb) and I am starting to teach children’s art classes next week, and we will kick off the lessons by creating a version of this with some drawing, too!

I’ll share more about my art background soon. In the meantime, I am located in Corona Del Mar, CA and have been gardening at my son’s school for a few years. I have enjoyed creating gardens with the kids so much! It has brought me more joy than I could have imagined! It has brought me back to my roots of gardening with my grandparents as a child and remembering how much I love working with children. It will be an art and nature focused time together.

That lone captured brush hair … stands sentinel on the grey arena of meaningless color. The painting continues how long will this pillar of fortune last against the wave of actions across the surface. Tune in for the next post to see if it still stands?

I thought I would use the painter’s tape to write with a sharpie marker what my artwork possess an “atmosphere of theory” a term coined by the art critique and. Art historian Arthur C. Danto. The artwork is embedded, with what the artist (that’s me) thinks are the: concepts, ideas, theories, and thoughts that are swirling around the creation of the artwork. They are what the angels whisper in my ears while I create, if you want to get romantic medieval art history reference for better understanding.

Today I was surprised also I feel so honored that I am being exhibited next to the artist Shepard Fairey; at the Laguna Art Museum for the Cool Art Auction. Oh wow! He’s a knight and I am but a humble squire compared to this artist. 😅
