Photoquilting on a grand scale!

Ever wondered what I do with all those photographs after the protest has ended?

Here you go! This 2.1 x 2.3 metre quilt combines photographs of women and children taken at Palestine protests in London, with repurposed fabric and an old keffiyeh to recreate a (sort of) traditional design quilt to make 144 squares.

This is the biggest quilt / wall hanging I’ve made to date and I’ve probably been working on it on and off for the last year. Now that initial construction is finally complete my thoughts are to open this up to collaboration. There is space for the addition of tatreez, messages, names … but I’d appreciate opinions.. should I leave it as it is, or are people keen to contribute?

Is there anywhere bigger than my living room / studio that would be willing to host an event for collaboration? Let me know what you think

This is my first attempt at creating a maquette for my Lost Woodlands project.

Actually it’s already a bit more than a maquette; it’s a hand made photobook printed on super thin Japanese Washi inkjet paper. The effect is one of creating a memory. After the page is turned the image remains. It is seen, yet unseen, faded yet remembered.

The photobook is part fine art folio, part memorial and part documentary, featuring a small selection of photos from my project photographing HS2 construction sites, from the protest camps in 2020-2022, to what remained a year on in 2023. It is a record of human impact on the environment and what has been lost, and continues to be lost to relentless construction and development.

The cover image is the front page of the final set of eviction papers (before the whole route was injuncted, preventing any further protests or scrutiny).

If this is of interest to anyone please DM me as at the moment I can’t afford to make any more for sale! I’m also working on putting together a more accessible and affordable version, with additional materials including original posters and flyers, testimonials and stories from former protesters.

I need help.@rasmiqudaih
I am reaching out with a humble request regarding my university studies. I have registered for the semester, and the university requires a payment of 91 Jordanian Dinars (approximately $130) for me to continue my education.

This is a significant financial burden for my family, especially given our current difficult circumstances.

If you are willing to help in any way—even a small contribution—it would mean a great deal to me and help me stay on the path toward my education and future.

Any support or sharing of this post can make a real difference.🫂🤍

May God reward you abundantly for your kindness.🤲🏻🤍

Please send a private message if you can help.

The Uncanny States of Home: "(BE)LONGING/S 2.0" 🏚️🔨

Reporting from the London floor of Apartman!

Can a former motorcycle repair shop turn into an uncanny exhibition space where we question the very concept of "home"?

Opened at hARTslane Gallery as part of the London Design Festival (LDF), the "(BE)LONGING/S 2.0: Phosphate of Calcium" exhibition strips the home of its status as a safe haven. Ranging from hybrid ceramics and noise operas to textile panels and sculptural installations, this multidisciplinary selection offers a striking experience on belonging, displacement, and the fragility of materials.

The details of this meaningful exhibition, which also supports a charity for the homeless, are live on our blog!

👤 Artists: Michaelancholia, Denise Laura Baker, Malgorzata Lisiecka, Corrie Georgala, Aleksandra Ishilla, BY MA Studio, Cell Deletion, Richa Vora

Evin Tekinsiz Halleri: "(BE)LONGING/S 2.0" 🏚️🔨

Apartman'ın Londra katından bildiriyoruz!

Eski bir motosiklet tamirhanesi, "ev" kavramını en baştan sorguladığımız tekinsiz bir sergi alanına dönüşebilir mi?

Londra Tasarım Festivali (LDF) kapsamında hARTslane Gallery'de izleyiciyle buluşan "(BE)LONGING/S 2.0: Phosphate of Calcium" sergisi, evi korunaklı bir sığınak olmaktan çıkarıyor.
