In light of the Cornell 7 Case going to trial, I feel this piece I created in response to the Brock Turner/Stanford rape case in 2016 is appropriate to share now.
I wish sexual assault wasn’t still being given such lenient sentences a decade later.

A Victim’s Voice.

🚨TRIGGER WARNING🚨
This choreographic work explicitly details the pain of the victim of the Stanford Rape Case and may be triggering to those who have experienced sexual assault in the past.

I created this piece to explore the emotions the victim of the Stanford Rape Case felt while the whole country discounted her experiences and continued to list off the accomplishments of her assaulter.

I want this piece to cause you to think and to hopefully want to advocate for change on our campuses in this country.

If you want to get involved, EROC, which stands for End Rape On Campus is an excellent organization to reach out to. They fight for girls and boys to have their title IX rights in assault cases on campuses all over the country.

It has been such an honor to be able to perform in @do_it_weldon ‘s MFA thesis performance. I have dreamed of performing on the Stevie Eller stage and I can officially say I have. I am so grateful for the beautiful and talented people this project has aligned me with and the connections I have made throughout the process. 💙

Meet ORBIT artist Feather Weldon

“Meditative Metamorphosis” explores cycles of embodied prayer as a solo dancer moves through resistance, repetition, and release, gradually realigning body and spirit while drawing closer to a guiding light that represents grounding, focus, and renewal.

Feather Weldon is a freelance professional dancer, choreographer, dance educator, and MFA Dance candidate at the University of Arizona. She has danced with MadJax Dance Company, Ballet Legato, American Neoclassical Ballet, Ad Deum Dance Company, Charlottesville Ballet, Verb Ballets, and Dayton Ballet II. Feather holds a BA with a Business Cognate in Dance from The University of Akron and received the majority of her training from The Otto M. Budig Academy of the Cincinnati Ballet under Mishic and Val Liberatore, and Tevlin Ballet Company, under Michael and Amy Tevlin. Her recent choreographic work, Risk and Release, placed second judge’s choice at the 2025 Rocky Mountain Choreography Festival and was selected for the 2025 Dance City Festival Detroit. She currently teaches non major dance courses as a GTA at University of Arizona. Feather is passionate about dance accessibility and desires to cultivate the joy of dance in all of her classes.

YAGP Las Vegas, Rocky Mountain Choreography Festival, YAGP finals Tampa, Cinderella, American Ballet Competition, Bournonville with the Masters, Imagine Ballet Theatre Summer Intensive, Ogden City Arts Festival, Pumpkin fundraiser, Sugarplum Teaparty, Ogden City electric light Christmas Parade and finally Nutcracker. When I tell you all that my first-ever national conference in Detroit, MI was one of the most exciting, inspiring, informative, and nerve-wracking trips I’ve made, I might be understating it. This weekend of making new friends, reconnecting with mentor-figures, and finally meeting faces from my screen could not have been more needed at this stage in my career.

I’m grateful because @ndeodance has created a space for dancers, educators, academics, and creative explorers to gather, exchange ideas, and move~. From dreading socializing on Friday evening, to dreading having to leave Tuesday morning, I’m honored to call #ndeo2025 my first conference. For the first time in a while, cannot wait for what awaits me in the future, especially as a creator, mover, and ethicist.

I’m very proud of this choreography, it was a personal challenge to choose to dance in character shoes, as that’s something I always struggled with in undergrad.
I can see how much I have grown in my Jazz skills since then. ❤️
