POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

It’s been a month since the first edition of the Food Art Fair (@foodartfair) where I was invited by the wonderful Giuseppe (@maisongb) to lead on public programming for the weekend. After a few weeks of intensive planning, it was such a joy to see everything come together in what I can only call a massive quirky and crazy celebration of all things food!

Some glimpses from the very full workshop programme I curated:

🍥 Sculpt with Sugar: Marzipan Modelling with Allegra D’Agostini @allegradagostini (slides 2-4)
📿Threads of Malai: Beading with Nymph Vasinee @vasinymph (slides 5-7)
📜How to design a menu (when you have too much to say) with Masa Masa @masamasa.london (slides 8-11)
🍳Whose Recipe? With Zijing Rie Ye @rieproduce (slides 12-15)
🍬Nostalgia on the Tongue: Food Writing with Suyin Du Bois @suyin.du.bois (slides 16-18)

Each workshop was distinct in style and structure and brought together interdisciplinary practitioners with varying degrees of experience and as a result we had a diverse and incredible engaged group of participants across the board.

A huge thank you to all our collaborators, visitors and volunteers for making this happen and of course big love to the FAF dream team!

London-based, but constantly moving between México and Istanbul.

@masamasa.london is a travelling table by @pedroresendezz, @nicolas.gilly and @durubebekoglu, built around a simple truth: Mexican food heritage and Anatolian kitchen instincts share far more than a few ingredients.

For one night only Masa Masa delivers tortillas, chiles and a lot of cheese inspired by the late night comfort food of İstanbul and Mexico City.

Behind the bar, we’ve put together three special drinks for the evening: mezcal with fermented heat, a street-style michelada, and an ice-cold rakı dessert pour.

Tunes by @taycan.

Wednesday, 9 September.

Kitchen starts at 6:30 PM.
Come early, stay thirsty.

Join us tomorrow at @foodartfair with @durubebekoglu as @masamasa.london for a workshop around the menu as a sequence, a plot, a provocation, a small book, or a statement of work, a tactile object, artefact and archive, a beautiful piece of paper that arrives with butter.

By the end, everyone will leave with the beginnings of a menu that is distinctive and true to what they cook (or long to cook).

Don of Mexico’nun havasıyla toplandığımız bir gece.

Masa Masa is a travelling table brought together by @durubebekoglu @pedroresendezz @nicolas.gilly, bringing the food cultures of Mexico and Türkiye together.

In Turkish, masa means “table”; in Spanish, masa means “dough”. One is the space of comunion, the other the process that makes it possible.

This time, Masa Masa takes a seat at Delicatessen’s table on 12 September.

A night together, with Don of Mexico setting the mood.
