We’re shining a little light on the brilliant businesses, people and community that make Edinburgh’s Old Town so special. 💚

Next up… the lovely people at @fudge_kitchen_edinburgh 🍬✨

Located on the Royal Mile, Fudge Kitchen brings a little sweetness to our neighbourhood with their delicious handmade fudge.

From pouring molten fudge onto marble slabs to skillfully working it by hand, their team turns traditional fudge-making into something you can watch unfold right in front of you.

With tempting flavours to discover and a warm welcome behind the counter, it’s a lovely stop while exploring the streets around Blackfriars.

Another brilliant business helping make our neighbourhood what it is. 💚
Come and meet the businesses that make our neighbourhood what it is ✨

We gave Edinburgh a very respectable itinerary.

Then lunch got involved.
There were monuments on it.

Historical dates.
A sensible walking route.

By the end, we were looking for a bar pretending to be a barber’s.

A few addresses worth knowing:

THE EDINBURGH LARDER

First, breakfast. This is a city of hills, and a coffee alone is a questionable climbing strategy. Just off the Royal Mile, the Larder puts Scottish producers at the heart of breakfast, brunch and lunch. Give the morning a proper table. This one closes at 3pm.

BERTIE’S PROPER FISH & CHIPS

Victoria Street will fill your camera roll. Bertie’s can handle the other pressing matter: battered haddock, twice-cooked chips and tartare sauce. Sit down, put the map away and accept that “just a few chips” was never a credible statement.

MUSSEL INN

On Rose Street, mussels arrive by the kilo. A useful unit of measurement when “a light bite” has lost all meaning. There’s chowder and more seafood to explore, but a pot of mussels makes a persuasive case for rolling up your sleeves and staying a while.

PANDA & SONS

Eventually, the itinerary develops a cover story.
A vintage barbershop frontage conceals a cocktail bar with a fascination for sub-zero flavour techniques. Head to Queen Street for the drinks. If anyone asks about the haircut, say you’re growing it out.

Four stops for different appetites and different hours.

Work them into your trip as you please; Edinburgh provides plenty of walking between meals.

All four addresses are on the final slide.
Administrative work: handled.

Save the file for your Edinburgh escape.

Send it to the friend who books the walking tour. They should know what they’re walking towards.

A proper Scottish breakfast, made with quality ingredients and packed with flavour.

Enjoy Ramsay’s smoked back bacon, black pudding, haggis and Cumberland sausage, alongside roasted balsamic portobello mushrooms, blistered cherry tomatoes, a homemade potato scone and our homemade beans.

Finished with a free range poached egg and buttered granary toast.

The perfect way to start your day at Blackfriars.

the more I travel and see things through a marketer-lens, it makes me take my pen and paper out and jot down notes.

RESERVATIONS ARE KEY! Do it right and it might be an investment that keeps on giving through word of mouth, online reviews, content, etc!
