Yesterday @edyer.art posted a video that was sent to them of people defacing their gorgeous mural... I’m not gonna assume to know why these people targeted this specific mural because I don’t know why. But I will speak on the fact that this mural was created by artist @edyer.art who is also trans, E worked hard to design this piece and this mural brought community together to participate in painting this gorgeous mural on the side of @comptonscafeteriariot . She worked on this piece whenever she had days off or after work.. and it was a joy and a pleasure to see her and other community members gathered in the neighborhood, putting time and energy into creating something beautiful in honor of our trans community and the things our trans community faces. This mural is on the building that is home to a theater that tells the story of Compton’s Cafeteria Riots, the 1966 uprising when trans women, drag queens, and other queer people fought back against police harassment and brutality and refused to keep accepting being treated like they didn’t have the right to exist. That history matters. Especially now, when trans folks are being used as a political tool by fucked up humans and are under attack simply for existing. It is important to have trans spaces. It is important to uplift trans voices. It is important to create art that celebrates trans existence. And it is absolutely fucked up when someone chooses to come into our neighborhood and tag over something that was created with so much love, time, and intention for our community. Some folks choose to spend their time being a pest in society, trying to tear down or disrespect things that they don’t understand, while we’re just trying to exist in all of our glory. But one thing I know about the trans and queer community is that you cannot hold us down. You cannot erase us. You cannot erase our history, our art, our voices, or our existence. We’ve been here, we’re still here, and we’re not going anywhere any time soon!!!

The romance of San Francisco, the Tenderloin in particular, from sidewalk to sky and everything in between, in 4 x 6 inch brush and ink vignettes by @edyer.art @thebirdcagesf plus a selection of larger mosaicked tales showing several blocks away @swigbarsf ✒️ In the education department, I did not know San Francisco has a Harlem Alley. I've probably walked by it 100 times and never noticed. E Dyer did.

SHOW STOPPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
🐀 🍕 🥔 🍠 🦝🍆🍔🍗🦊🍓🥝🐿🐼🎂🥮🍥🦁🐩🥕🦄

CONGRATULATIONS ANDREA BERGEN ON YOUR FIRST OFFICIAL SOLO EXHIBITION AND SUMMER BLOCK BUSTER:

'THE BIG BUFFET IN THE SKY'
@andreajanebergen
At Moth Belly Gallery
@mothbellygallery
912 Larkin st. SF

Open: Saturday & Sunday 1-6pm
Or by appt: info@mothbelly.org

On view for all of September and October of 2026
Read more at: www.mothbelly.org

This exhibition is a must see!!!!! You have two full months to check this one out, so no excuses!
Trust me when I say that you will be AMAZED!!!! Andrea went full force her debut solo, creating an entire sculptural world in @mothbellygallery that reads like an immersive urban natural forest filled with animals, junkfood and the modern day cycle of life! From the floor to the ceiling her animals roam, lurk and devour everything they lay their eyes on.

From insanely meticulous & detailed hand cut representations of her highly expressive animals on wood panels to three dimensional sculptures of her creatures hanging from the walls and ceilings; Andrea creates a full on assault on the senses while creating an environment of absolute fun with powerful imagery mixed with a dash of social commentary as her animals dominate, devour and dominate our everyday consumer culture!!!!

This really is a fun one for the whole family. I can totally see myself getting lost as a kid in this installation of works because that's the effect it had on me as an adult!

I couldn't help but feel inspired both during & after experiencing this body of work while remembering a time in this city when artists went full in on their exhibitions and worlds; creating environments in which their dreams and visions came to life for the audience.

I'm going to do a few posts on this 'buffet' throughout the summer and make a few more visits back to Moth Belly Gallery to enjoy this splendor of work...

👀 SNEAK PEAK 😳

Today we took down Stay Lit While the Wind Blows, closing a chapter that filled The Birdcage with quiet stars, late-night walks, and moments of stillness.

There’s always something bittersweet about watching an exhibition come down. The walls go blank for just a moment before they begin holding someone else’s story.

Now we begin installing 𝐿𝑒𝓃𝑔 𝒳𝒾𝒶 | 冷夏 (Cold Summer) by Jiayue Li.

Join us Saturday, August 1 • 6–9 PM as we welcome a new body of work into the space. We can’t wait to share what’s next.

Tonight’s the night! 🔥 5~9 at @swiggallerysf . Very excited to be showing work alongside @edyer.art , our very first duo show. When E and I are not watching artist videos or taking walks for inspiration, we’re often painting and attempting to push the envelope. Many nights we spent discussing this show.

Thank you to SWIG for having us and for filling your space with creativity and to John for arranging and helping us with the show. And a shout out to @hangartsf for being a supporter of my work.

Hope to see you there! 🍻
