Janet and I reached our first 1K miles of jaunts, appropriately, on our way home from post-Darla-total PT. 😅 I may or may not have been crying blasting Eastside Girls as I drove through the intersection where the accident happened. I HAVE recommitted to the bit re: taking the selfie when I actually hit the mile marker, so enjoy this random church parking lot in Burlington.

I’ve also realized that every thousand miles is an opportunity for a photo dump! SO! In our first thousand miles, Janet has taken me to:
• Smithfield, Rhode Island for narrator buddy dinner!
• The New England Songwriters Retreat in Chester, CT, also known as the Great American Folk Fest (with one emotional support Canadian)
• Walden Pond, where I didn’t take any photos, so I substituted Willow seeing a human in a boat for the first time in the Sudbury river 🚣🏼‍♀️
• @mccarthystoad for @somervillesongwritersessions (second Sundays, 4pm, I host in November!)
• @qdivisionstudios to finish tracking @24hourtom on bass for the record
• many lessons, represented by kitten on iPad
• Godson time (“Mom made a great parking lot!”)
• @concordanimalhospital where Willow was brave and ate several milk bones??? Since when. And then she escaped her harness in the car. Also since when.

Driven to but not pictured: church, acupuncture, massage, echocardiogram, Godson’s MOM who ALSO matters, and more PT

And COMING RIGHT UP, MUNA AT ROADRUNNER, where I will absolutely be crying as I scream the gay we didn’t start the fire bridge of Eastside Girls. 💃🏻

Thank you for your time. 🖤🛞🎵 #JanetJaunts

NYC Audiobook Social! Only once a year is not enough! Got to spend time with friends outside of the booth. Got to meet some people in person that I have only ever communicated with through email. And met some new folks as well. So much talent and passion on that beautiful rooftop bar!

I’ve been quiet for a minute on this account… intentionally. Took time off to celebrate my birthday and as a team we’ve been focused on a big project - rebuilding The Great Audiobook Adventure into its next iteration.

Something new is coming. ✨

What do you want to know about narration, auditions or building this multi-hyphenate career?

Drop it below. Might be my next video. 💖

Building 903 by Lois Lowry - Kirkus says Get It ✅

So excited for you to hear this timely novel from @loislowrywriter and @clarionbooks out Sept 29th- available for preorder now!

Thanks @kirkus_reviews @kirkusaudiobookreviews for the feature and thank you to ExecutiveProducer @its.kamala._ @harperaudio for the incredible opportunity to tell this important story.

Honestly this book feels so connected to the TED talk I delivered last year on the Power of a Human Storyteller in the Age of AI and I couldn’t be more honored to be a part of bringing Building 903 to audio.

Let Ms. Lowry’s story be a warning a wakeup call, a plea to read a book that a human wrote today and listen to an audiobook that a human narrated. Just sayin’

Shoutout to @erockblack Karen Radner at Harper and Arra Melikian @johnmarshallmedia and the entire post-production team!

Yesterday was a hard day. I was down on myself for a couple results I didn’t like (both personally + professionally). Today, running on not much sleep I’m tired, but the energy is different.

Here’s what shifted:

I used some of the exact tools I’ll be teaching at the Dream Big, Plan Smart Retreat. Not perfectly. But pretty consistently.

If you’ve set goals before, you know the drill: a bad day doesn’t mean your plan isn’t working. If you’ve put in the time, systems that work for your brain, and you keep showing up (even at a B-, even imperfectly) chances are it’s working more than it feels.

But if you’ve never had a plan to begin with, or you’re overwhelmed right now, or new ideas keep showing up and you don’t know where they should go in terms of priorities — that’s exactly what this retreat was created for.

Today’s the last day of Early Bird pricing. The codes go away tonight.

If you’ve got questions, comment RETREAT and I’ll reach out — happy to hop on a call and see if this is a fit for you.

And truly, you’re doing okay. Keep showing up for yourself. If today’s a rough one, doesn’t mean tomorrow will be.

Whenever I surround myself with other creatives - performers, thinkers, artists, healers - going after big things, those are the moments where I grow. And only then do the things I’ve been desiring (and even taking action on) seem to magically come my way.

But it’s NOT magic.

It’s taking stock in where you’ve been and where you want to go.

It’s learning where you’ve been personally holding yourself back, and getting vulnerable enough to explore those areas.

It’s taking your desires serious enough to make a plan, set up accountability, and lean into community for support.

This is what we’re getting up to October 6-8th at the Dream Big, Plan Smart Retreat in Providence, RI and there’s space for you.

Comment RETREAT if you’d like to learn more.

Photos from yesterday's adventures in Providence at #RIIFF26 with the lovely @elisearsenault.actor. We went for tacos, watched movies in the park and enjoyed the rooftop after-party.
