Round of twenty-seven. Lewin got to seventeen pull ups and came off the bar.

A lot of the field stayed on. Twenty-seven straight through, down to the barbell, and for the first minute or so it looks like the right call.

He never came off the bar again. Twenty-one unbroken. Fifteen unbroken. Nine unbroken. He spent a few seconds in the first round and bought himself the entire rest of the workout, and he won the event by forty-one seconds.

The cleans went the same way round. Nine, nine and nine while he was fresh. Eight and seven in the middle. Then nine straight through at the end, when everybody else’s grip had gone west.

He also put the bar down in the lunge every single round. Including the last one, with nine reps left and the finish in sight.

This strategy was decided before the day of the workout at the Games. In training, running intervals of that exact workout until the numbers told us where his grip would go. We went in planning to break it up more than he did. He read it on the day and took two sets instead of three on the first set of pull ups.

That is what a plan is for. Not to be followed. To be known well enough that you can move off it by one set and still be right.

The Next Gen squad train against each other, so none of them get to test an idea like that in private. You find out what your grip actually does while somebody you know is on the next bar going unbroken.

JST Athletes did this workoutlast week. Every one of you met the same bar in the round of twenty-seven and made the same call, most of you in the moment, most of you for the first time.

That is the thing we are actually trying to fix. Not your pull ups. The decision in front of them. You Athlete IQ, thats why we have leaderboard workouts to test this.

What a weekend kicking off Nike x JST Next Gen.

We started 5 years ago with a youth training day, which grew into training camps, which grew into a training squad, and which now has the support of Nike.

The goal is the same as it’s always been: to provide young people with a place to connect with like-minded peers, to learn, have fun, work hard and pursue their dreams of competing in CrossFit.

I feel very grateful that Nike are going to help support that and help us grow it.

Every camp I finish with the same sense of what a privilege it is to coach these guys, and this one was no different.

As the youths would say… it’s giving kinda chic to be in our Nike era vibes.

All of these clients came to us with pain or injury.

Each started with our signature Movement Reset.

In their words, you’ll hear about things they hadn’t considered before. Their feet, their stance, their breathing. Getting to understand their own bodies a little better.

Some now come for weekly sessions. Others return for an occasional MOT. What comes next depends on the person.

One session won’t be the whole answer for everyone. Our aim is to help you understand your body, know what you’re working on and why, and give you things you can practise yourself. Building your confidence and independence, with our support when you need it.

If something’s been bothering you, or you’d simply like to understand your body better, message us to find out about our Movement Reset.

We recently had the privilege of supporting and coaching Ella as she finished an incredible 4th place at the CrossFit Games - an unbelievable achievement and one we’re very priveldged to be part of.

We have worked with Ella for just over a year and watching her dedication, intention & maturity with everything she does is undeniable - she puts everything she has into everything she does. It’s nothing short of incredible.

We asked Ella about her experience working with us, and here’s what she had to say -

“Having a personalised nutrition strategy that was tailored to my competition schedule made a huge difference. It gave me confidence that my nutrition was supporting my performance at every stage rather than being something I had to second-guess.

How supported did you feel throughout your journey?

I felt fully supported from start to finish. Luke was always approachable, responsive, and proactive, adapting my nutrition as demands changed during the competition. Having that level of expertise in my corner allowed me to focus entirely on competing.

How has your training or competition performance changed?

The biggest difference was consistency. I felt well-fuelled, recovered better between sessions, and maintained my energy throughout the competition. Knowing my nutrition was taken care of gave me one less thing to worry about and helped me perform at my best when it mattered most.”

A huge thank you to Ella for trusting us throughout the process and for taking the time to share her experience.

We’re so proud of you.

We can’t wait to see what’s next.
