Happy National Tree day! This year marks 30 years since @planetark has been calling people from all over this continent to come together for at least one day, to get their hands dirty and plant some trees.

We think today is the perfect day to share the first sneak peek of our gorgeous photos from our premiere season of 'Beneath Our Feet'.

The show revolves around the action of collectively planting an Acacia Melanoxylon (Blackwood Wattle) seed, this is a catalyst to journey down into the soil to ensure the soil is healthy for our seed to grow into a tree.

Then at the end of each show we give families a 'Grow at Home' kit that are filled with a selection of Kangaroo, Wallaby and spearhead grass seeds. These seeds were kindly donated by Carrum Indigenous Nursery who are an amazing volunteer run organisation on Boonwurrung Country. 🌱

Where the Snails Go Theatre Co has officially bumped out of the David Li Sound Gallery. Thank you to all the humans of Family Fiesta that came through our shrinkinator’s door. We hope you had fun and go on to enjoy planting your indigenous grass seeds at home 🌱

Thank you to @monashpac for the time, connections, space and financial support to help our seed grow and turn into our first show. We are eternally grateful!
We 10/10 recommend that theatre folks keep their eyes and ears peeled for the Progress link commission EOI in the future.

More gratitude and huge thanks to come, but for now we are going to have a little rest ✨

As we go into our final day at Family Fiesta tomorrow, we want to take a moment to thank the generous adults who were our test audience on Tuesday. We were able to do a run of the show, testing the mechanics of interaction, timing and flow of the show. This allowed us to be ready and responsive to the young people and their offers of play ✨🌱

Deepest of gratitude to you all!

What a JOY to have some time in the David Li Gallery this week to PLAY, so we are ready to play with the Families that will join us next week!

BTS of our three performers @sophia.derkenne @laurenswain12 and @afropunkmuthafunk in rehearsal, exploring the world that has been so beautifully crafted by our small team of designers and theatre makers.

@chiara.anise has built the most gorgeously tactile set design and their lighting design playfully holds us in magic ✨we can’t wait for you to see the costumes too!

@emhlgt has been cooking up stunning original compositions for a responsive sound design that is flexible for the interactive nature of the show. Some of which you can hear in some of these videos. She has also been working Qlab wizardry with AV taking animations created by Sophia and Lauren and bringing them to life.

We are so delighted to have two incredible @monashpac technicians in the space supporting the development of our show. Huge gratitude to @ash.bash.tech and @trialxerra 🌱

Behind the camera is our stage manager @_liz.bird who is gently guiding us through our to do lists and making sure we stay hydrated/ well fed 💛

‘Beneath Our Feet’ is coming to @monashpac Family Fiesta, Forest 🌱

🗓️ 1–4 July, 2026

📍 MPAC invites children and their families to step into the forest and discover a world of free and affordable events. Explore ancient trees, fungi and the hidden micro-world beneath your feet, and see how everything in the forest is connected. Artists, theatre-makers, musicians and dancers team up with scientists to show you just how wondrous and essential these ecosystems are.

🪱 Beneath Our Feet is an immersive theatre show about earthy ecosystems for young people and their grown-ups, inviting them into a playful and participatory journey through the layers of soil. Activated by performers, narrative moments, dynamic sound and tactile set design, it encourages child-led exploration and rich sensory experience.
