Three days at a business retreat in Bali called Uplevel, wrapped up like this.

The last morning, we wrote each other letters. I have read mine four times now and I am still not finished with it.

Somewhere between the massage and the fire pit, I stopped counting how spoiled we were and just let it happen.

Marshmallows melting into chocolate as the sun went down over Uluwatu. Engagement stories and bad dates in the same breath, nobody rushing to the next one.

Anita is the woman behind all of it, and I did not know how much of a reset I needed until I was in the middle of one she built.

Day two, I sat in a room listening to Lou Rice talk about nearly running out of cash. Borrowing money to cover stock nobody bought. The specific loneliness of holding a business together while everyone assumes you have it handled.

I recognised every part of it. Not because it was inspiring. Because it was mine too.

I have reinvented this business half a dozen times now. Through COVID. Through staff leaving for their own reasons. This time was different. This time I got to rebuild it just for me.

If you are a hairdresser who has ever run the business and done the hair and smiled at a client while working out if payroll clears, this is for you. Strength is not the photo on the deck with thirteen other women. Strength is the version of me that kept showing up to a chair for clients while deciding, quietly, whether the whole thing was going to survive.

By day three, my mind had finally slowed down enough to feel any of it. Sound healing for the first time. A friend I want to know more of, not less. A final breakfast I did not want to end.

The answer did not change. It just got clearer, and for the first time, I could feel it too.

If any of this sounds like your year, I would love for you to stick around.

A week ago today, I was in Bali some of it just for my family, resetting and regrouping, and some of it at a business retreat with a room full of founders.

This was day one, and it went somewhere I didn’t expect. We wrote our own eulogies. Twice once as someone who loves us, once as a client.

We named the states we operate from the one that survives, and the one that actually builds.

There was a session on AI too.
One line stuck ‼️treat every prompt like it could end up in the Daily Mail If you wouldn’t want it published, don’t type it in. Simple, but most of us have never thought about it that way ‼️

Mostly what stuck, why I started this in the first place. Not the numbers. The people 🫶🏼

Anyone else know that strange retreat feeling, running on empty and full of energy in the same breath, already impatient for day two?

Day two and three still to come.

Not going to lie, getting a little emotional writing this post 🥹❤️

Every year, I take a bunch of my clients OFFLINE as we strategise on their next level (while indulging in good food, epic company, and some very well-deserved relaxation).

…and in the few days leading up to it, I always get a little nervous.

Will everyone get along?
Will everyone enjoy what I’ve got planned?
Will everyone walk away feeling like they got what they needed?

And then the retreat starts…

…and all those worries flurry away🥹

I see breakthroughs happen in the most micro moments.

I see people let their armour down, sometimes for the first time in a long time.

I see one conversation completely shift something someone has been circling for months.

I see people who were strangers days ago become friends, collaborators and cheerleaders, forming relationships I know will last long beyond these few days.

And EVERY single time, I’m reminded:

The room you’re in matters.

You see, I am a strategy gal through and through.

But all the strategy in the world means nothing if your identity who you believe you are and how you’re showing up isn’t aligned with where you want to go.

That’s why I love experiences like this.

We get to fuse strategy with identity.

Yes, we jam on the business.

But we also get to turn down the external noise and dial up the internal.

And there is something incredibly powerful about doing that surrounded by high performers.

People who think bigger.
Move differently.
Ask better questions.
Challenge your thinking.
Share generously.
And genuinely want to see you win.

Because sometimes your next level doesn’t need another strategy.

Sometimes you just need to be in a room that raises your standard for what’s possible.

And this room?

It was pretty damn special. 🥹❤️

The customs officer at the airport said to me: ‘Did you meet up with anyone while you were away?’ Oh yeah, I sure did 😌

This time away was exactly what I needed. I met a bunch of incredibly authentic, clever, hilarious business owners all in vastly different realms of work. The kind of people that you can double over in laughter with but also have deeply meaningful conversations about life, parenting, and relationships.

I came away with so many new connections, feeling super inspired, invigorated, and grateful 🏝️

Should companies be allowed to phoenix and leave their employees high and dry? What a joke!

Welcome to Australia where doing the right thing gets punished and doing the wrong thing seemingly gets you a second chance. #hrgurus #hradvice #taxfraud #ato #smallbusiness

Just wrote a blog about this one! Should this junior lawyer have been terminated for a tik tok rant?

The countdown is AWWWNNN 🏝️

9 weeks until I take an intimate group of my clients away to Bali and we disconnect from the world and immerse ourselves into a few days of relaxation, genuine connection, strategy, live masterminding and epic good food.

A pretty good workcation me thinks.

If you are ready for a few days of slow down and you’re ready to do so with a group of incredible humans who will level you up. Don’t miss this. We will cry, laugh, eat, indulge and it’s gonna be epic.
Final spots, if you want in?!

DM or comment RETREAT and I’ll send you more info x
