PICK 3. this one’s based on the EKA 200 from @emokidsanonymous.

they had 139 people from across the emo world submit their picks, and 575 albums ended up getting nominated.

i pulled the bands that landed in their top 15 and made it a pick 3.

who are you keeping?

go check out the full EKA 200 too because there’s a lot more on that list worth digging into.

emo, Emo Kids Anonymous, EKA 200, emo albums, Taking Back Sunday, Jimmy Eat World, American Football, My Chemical Romance, Sunny Day Real Estate, Thursday, Fall Out Boy, Free Throw

@emokidsanonymous put a top 200 emo albums list together with contributions and input from 100+ people in the industry/scene. To see @thehoteliergram #1 amongst all of these other legendary names makes me feel like everything I’ve ever felt is validated. Other people really connect with it too.

2 of my top 5 shows I’ve ever seen are The Hotelier, one in Las Vegas and one in London. The clip is from The Garage in London with people I don’t know all singing along together anyway to possibly the best close to an album I’ve heard #homelikenoplaceisthere

“Engraved in the stone, by request and recurse of friends dead, is ‘tell me again that it’s all in my head’.”

🔗 PRE-SAVE “FAKE IT” — LINK IN BIO 👇🎸
Songs that made us emo kids — “Honestly” by Cartel.
2005. Debut album Chroma on tiny indie label The Militia Group. Will Pugh wrote “Honestly” trying to win his girlfriend back — and the song was so big it landed Cartel a deal with Epic Records. Number 89 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 26 on pop radio, Warped Tour 2006, and ten years later it went Gold. Half a million copies.
We’re DRBY (Derby) 🏁 — a new South Florida pop punk band making music for the grown-up emo kids who became parents and never stopped feeling it all. Clean, faith-driven pop punk with real hooks.
Our debut single “Fake It” drops October 30 — pre-save link in bio 🏁💛

super honored to be among the contributors for @emokidsanonymous top 200 albums and to see my blurb for my personal number one make it to the list.

@sunnydayrealestate Diary taught me so much about how bands could sound and what I wanted to get out of my listening experience and it's amazing that it still resonates with so many people today.
