Lead can find its way into your drinking water through various avenues. Our checklist covers key points to be aware of. If you have concerns, consider checking whether your city or water provider offers lead testing services.

The easiest (almost free) way to minimize exposure to lead is to let your water run for 2-3 minutes BEFORE filling your glass or water bottle. Doing so flushes out the water that has been sitting stagnant in the portion of the pipe that is most likely to contain lead. Check out our link in bio to learn more!

Lead in drinking water is often caused by lead leaching from the plumbing pipes. While cities around the country are working on changing out lead service lines, many more homes and other buildings still have lead pipes, and it’s not financially feasible to change them all in a reasonable amount of time. You can still help keep yourself and your family safe in the meantime, though! Flushing your pipes for at least 2 minutes before using the water for drinking or cooking is a great place to start. #waterquality #leadinwater #leadpipes #helpfultips #drinkingwater
