The wild weather brought on shenanigans today !

The stars of the show are always the Coos but a close second could have been sisters, Jacquelyn and Jennifer, from Virgina 🇺🇸 with a wee jig on The Pantry deck !

OMG! Last day in Scotland, but the best day for meeee 😍

If you know me, you know how much I absolutely adore cows 🐮 (coos here in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿). We had an amazing time @netherglennycottagesandfarm meeting their beautiful herd of Highland Coos (and they had some cute sheep too!).

Thank you so much Alison and Matt for teaching us about your herd, the importance of eco-conscious farming, and how agri-tourism helps sustain local farmers. After our adventure we enjoyed a warm fire, chats, coffee, and homemade goodies 💕

Conic Hill Hike with coos 😍 and lunch in the quaint village of Balmaha

Intense hike, but rewarding views at the summit! And of course the coos made it all worth it!

Last morning in Edinburgh 🚙-> The Cameron House in Loch Lomond.

Nice morning walk around then an adventurous drive to our next destination! I think it is fair to report that us ladies are totally happy letting the guys drive 😂 We did not realize that we would be passing the Kelpies statues, so just a quick pic and video…
After dropping our bags off, we headed to the small village of Luss and explored the coast and had a lovely lunch on the water. Got settled into our rooms and then walked around the property. Such a beautiful place on Loch Lomond 💚

Midwife Off Duty ✈️🍀🤍

A little glimpse of @essentialmidwife trading baby watch for family time and adventures through Highlands and Edinburgh! 🇮🇪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Something we don’t talk about enough in midwifery is just how important rest is, not only for our midwives, but for the families we serve.

When our midwives are on baby watch, they’re essentially on call 24/7, sometimes for 7–14 days at a time. That means keeping their phones close, being ready to leave at a moment’s notice, and carrying the mental and emotional responsibility of knowing a baby could arrive at any hour.

It’s a beautiful privilege, but that constant state of readiness takes a toll on the body, mind, and emotional well-being.

We believe that caring well for our mothers begins with caring well for our midwives, too. 🤍

Taking intentional time away allows our team to truly disconnect, reconnect with their families, rest, and return feeling refreshed and ready to give each mother the attentive, compassionate, and present care she deserves.

Because birth work requires so much more than simply showing up. It requires being fully present, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

So here’s to Jenn enjoying some well-deserved family time, beautiful scenery, and a few days where the only thing on her schedule is making memories! ☘️

We miss you and can’t wait for your return!

Day 3: We wandered the Stockbridge Farmer’s Market (no pics) and other local shops, then toured the Edinburgh Castle and the St. Giles Cathedral. The church had a small orchestra practicing while we were there! Had a yummy dinner to finish off the day!

Jenn recently got to chat with @accordochiropractic about @becyclesmart and why body literacy matters so much. When you understand what your body is telling you each month, you stop guessing and start working with your cycle instead of against it.

🩷Charting your cycle doesn’t have to be overwhelming

🩷 “Common” symptoms aren’t always normal and “Normal” isn’t always optimal

🩷Your body has been giving you information all along

There may not be hard science around “cycle synching” but lots of friends sure do have this experience!

Science is just catching up in women’s health. As women our bodies, our hormones and our cycles are complex, but that doesn’t mean they to be confusing. When you learn to listen to and respond to the signals your body is sending you, it puts you in the drivers seat.

What does midwifery have in common with chiropractic care?

More than you might think!

I loved having @essentialmidwife from @sevencitiesmidwifery on the Live Higher Podcast because, despite working in different areas of healthcare, we share so much of the same philosophy.

Health is about more than numbers on a chart or a collection of symptoms. It’s about the whole person. Their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

And whether you’re helping someone through pregnancy or helping someone overcome chronic pain, that bigger picture matters.

Thanks Jen for such a great conversation!

I got to sit down with my good friend @essentialmidwife from @sevencitiesmidwifery to talk about homebirth, what midwifes actually do, and why so many families are choosing this route.

Jen actually helped us with the birth of our daughter so this one was especially fun for me.

If you’re curious about homebirth or how chiropractic can help during pregnancy, check out the full episode on our YouTube channel!

Experience the difference with Seven Cities Midwifery Care. 🌻

Behind every birth we have the privilege of supporting is a team of people who believe mothers deserve to feel cared for, informed, and surrounded by support throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

At SCMC, it’s truly all hands on deck. 🤍

From our skilled Certified Professional Midwives who provide personalized prenatal, birth, and postpartum care, to birth assistants who bring an additional set of trained hands and support during labor and birth — each person plays an important role in caring for our families.

And our support doesn’t stop with birth.

Through our collaboration with pelvic floor physical therapist Dr Liz Martin from @themamapt , our mamas can receive additional support during pregnancy to address discomfort, mobility, and pelvic floor concerns, as well as guidance during postpartum as they heal, strengthen, and rebuild.

Because caring for a mother means looking at the whole journey, not just the moment her baby arrives.

That’s the SCMC difference: a team ready to educate, encourage, support, and care for you through every stage. 🌻
