As well as all the amazing stall holders, we will have free workshops and activities on throughout the day including… Go Bananas! -Poetry Workshop with @fajkart In this workshop you will play a quick fire game of Bananagrams, a word game where you will create a grid of words as fast as you can. Using the words in your grid, you will write a poem and then put it into a zine which you can take home! Open to all (age 14+) #OverHereZineFest #GlobalMajorityCreatives #Zines. . EXHIBITOR We are Mango Jam, a collective of four artists who make zines, prints, poetry, and workshops which we share with the community. Founded by friends from Pakistan and the Philippines, Mango Jam came to fruition through our lived experiences of feeling secluded and othered by the arts sector. We aim to decolonise creative processes and overcome systemic injustice through radical creation and togetherness. We explore this through our creative practices where we focus on themes of identity, personal histories, culture, and life experience.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Jeepney-Inspired Sign Painting Workshop today! It was such a pleasure meeting you all, sharing stories, and seeing both new and familiar faces. We loved seeing everyone’s creativity come to life while celebrating the vibrant art of the Jeepney. Special thanks to Voice ESEA @voiceesea and Factory International @factory_international for hosting us and giving us the opportunity to showcase this side of Filipino culture. A slice of life🥭 We just wanted to take a sec to tell you guys about what we’ve been up to here at Mango Jam! From workshops, events, university milestones, and more… it’s been a busy few months🌟 A big thank you to everyone for supporting us and connecting with us online and in person. Just a reminder that we have our own little artist-led art + bookshop here at SEESAW, that you’ve probably walked past a thousand times. We stock local artists, poets, writers, designers and book makers (etc) works. Ranging from handmade ceramic lamps, to hand blown vases, badges and artist books - we have all sorts for you to gift (or keep👀) Our fun lil shop is open alongside the cafe hours of 8:30 - 4pm every weekday, and also at our events whenever they happen. Looking back at our special evening in Manchester, ‘joy is a space we make’. Thank you to all who took part and helped bring this magical event together. We were very lucky to be joined by the talented @zeashanashraf who took these photos on the night. We are so grateful to the @longsightartspace for being the absolute best hosts for this occasion. Thank you to our panellists @peim786 @fajkart @notnishat and moderator @jessica_elmal for exploring the world of self-publishing. A special note of gratitude for author @sufiyaansalam for joining us on the night and speaking with such heart and humour to our growing community. Lastly, thank you to @kamransajid and @maryamalsaeid for performing such warm and reflective poetry. Our friends @houseofbooksandfriends were there selling WIMMY ROAD BOYZ as part of the marketplace. Zines from @peim786, mangojam and @seen_universe were also on sale, alongside the newest issue of the Khidr Zine, Holding Joy. For those who couldn't make it, fret not! Khidr Zine 5: Holding Joy is still available to buy on our website (khidrcollective.co.uk), as are a limited number of our previous issues. The vibes were amazing, the chai was flowing, and we were so glad to curate such a cosy night of conversation for our Manchester audience. Here's to many more Manchester motives! "We are thrilled to annouce Nadia Sultana @henna.fusionz has been making a stunning new artwork for Our Longsight Festival. Over the past month she has been running workshops across the city, helping people of all ages and backgrounds create silver and gold butterflies that will be installed amongst the trees right here in Crowcroft Park! Come watch the magic happen starting 22nd August from 11 am to 5 pm. About the artist: Lancashire-born and deeply rooted in South Asian heritage, Nadia is an artist whose work moves between the intricate and the expansive, from traditional henna and mandala-making to large-scale outdoor installations. Her recent commission brought together local participants to hand-make foil butterflies, which came together into a shimmering installation celebrating creativity, community and transformation.

🖼️ Fajar Kayani is a multidisciplinary creative who uses the material culture of everyday objects to build portraits and archives of the self. She has facilitated workshops and curated exhibitions independently across Manchester, inviting others to explore how small, personal artefacts embed meaning in daily life. 🥭 @fajkart is part of @mangojamcollective, a Manchester-based collective of friends and artists uplifting South and Southeast Asian communities through creativity, collaboration, and cultural exchange. They're currently working on their first zine, Hidden Under the Mango Tree, exploring resistance and lesser-known aspects of South and Southeast Asian culture. MANCHESTER’S BARRIO FIESTA! 🇵🇭✨🥭 One of our favourite parts of Filipino culture is our sense of community and celebration! We got to experience this by going to Manchester Barrio Fiesta @filipino.acgm , a Filipino celebration that is traditionally held to honour patron saints. Barrio Fiestas are held all around the world and its a way for the Filipino diaspora to get together and connect through sharing an abundance of food, stalls and markets, colourful performances, dancing, singing, and just about everything that Filipinos love to do (Oh and we got to see Kitchie Nadal live?! HOW COOL IS THAT?!!) 🌞🕶️ Huge respect to all the Filipinos who put so much work and effort into organising these events 🫶
