what an absolute delight it was to have @ramcellars pouring her amazing wines at the fates last night, with thanks to @crystalliams and @handcraftedwines, too!

viv is a joyful force of nature, the kindest, realest and sweetest soul, and someone i am very lucky to call friend.
in the midst of harvest and 3636537373 hour days trucking grapes, dealing with malfunctions, assessing, pressing, and de-stressing, this beautiful human took the time to pour love into our glasses and serve our community, and i am truly grateful.

we are keeping the magic going all weekend with Ram Cellars features for those who missed yesterday, and a few new snacks for fun, too.

happy two years of officially making @fatesbreadandbottle brick and mortar dreams come true!!!! [jan 1st 2027 will mark two years of my doors officially being open to the public!!]
i've worked approx 10000000 hours a day for every bit of the past two years since i got those keys, and plan to keep going strong.

supper club returns next week, the back patio is almost fortified for autumn and the coming winter season, wine
shelves are loaded with treasures, new menu on the way, so much joy on deck.
ahhhhh, all the feels!!! what a delicious journey this continues to be.

A little change of plans 🤍

I’ve made the decision to cancel our September 10th Peace of Home Social gathering at The Fates.

I started Peace of Home with a really simple idea: making it a little easier to find your people in a new city. As I’ve been building it, that idea has started to evolve into something a little more intentional, and I want to give myself the space to follow where it’s going rather than rush the first event just because there’s a date on the calendar.

If you bought a ticket, you’ll of course receive a full refund. 🤍

This isn’t goodbye to the idea. If anything, I’m more excited about what it could become.

This is The Fates Bread & Bottle. 🤎

One of the first places that gave me a little piece of home in my new city. And now, very fittingly, the first home of Peace of Home Social.

From the easy conversation with the amazing owner, Chanelle, to the very good wine (and I’m picky), to freshly made focaccia that somehow turns “girl dinner” into a glass of chilled red and a warm slice of bread… The Fates quickly became one of those places where I could walk in, exhale, and feel like I belonged.

The atmosphere is warm, eclectic and inviting, with just enough witchy energy to make you feel like anything might be possible.

Which makes it feel pretty perfect for a room full of strangers showing up and hoping they might leave knowing someone new.

Thank you so much @iamchanelle and @fatesbreadandbottle for creating a place that has meant so much to me since moving to Portland, and for opening your doors to our very first Peace of Home Social. 🤍

We’ll see you here September 10.

this weekend's sangria might be my favorite one yet. Charley and I have so much fun collaborating and creating our own unique spins on one of my all time favorite drinks. this one is inspired by a dreamy summer in France… think dappled warm sunshine, lavender fields, ripe fruit and happy song drifting out across cobblestone streets.

we named this one "the second sunrise"-
la Vieille Ferme rose of Cinsault, Grenache, and Syrah [that classic chicken Rhône rosé we all know and love] @justavessel.icxc american co-ferment oregon foraged fruit wine, herbal thyme liqueur, apricot liqueur, cognac and fresh wedges of organic pluots, served with a sprig of thyme and always love.

Fate’s isn't just a bottle shop—it’s a sanctuary. Ran by Chanelle—vegetarian chef, mama, and the kind of person who makes you feel immediately at home—it’s built for human connection. Whether you need a warm hug, a quiet corner to write a novel, a stellar playlist, or just someone asking, "have you eaten today?", she’s created a space that feeds the soul.

Her philosophy operates on the exact same frequency as Copious: that food and liquid aren't just fuel—they’re everyday alchemy. Honest, soulful, delightfully unfussy, and built for people who prefer real flavor and genuine hospitality over stuffy pretense.

I’ll be taking over the guest glass pour list all evening with our current lineup. Come grab some fresh artisan bread, tuck into some seasonal bar bites, get a splash of wine in your glass, and let’s stir up some civilized mischief.
