Craft The Leather 2025 Award:

This week I received the award for my Craft The Leather 2025 winning collection (titled Flat Tracker). Thank you @dianebecker & @consorzioverapelle for the award and the opportunity to take part in this wonderful program.

The award included a beautiful leather trophy crafted by Faye Sevilla Smith (@sevillasmith), and a certificate produced by master engraver and printer Alessandro (@incisori_fiorentini). It is a privilege to receive these artefacts created by incredibly talented artisans, which will serve as a great reminder of the Craft The Leather experience 🇮🇹

A moment that brings a story full circle🔄

Luca Greenway and his tutor Liz Ciokajlo spent a week with us in Tuscany last year, representing Chelsea College of Arts during Craft the Leather Week — meeting our tanneries, discovering Vegetable Tanned Leather, and getting closer to the people and knowledge behind this centuries-old tradition.

🥇Luca was awarded the Craft the Leather Award – Best Collection for his work.

🎤This past Monday, Diane Becker visited Chelsea College to present Luca with his award during a dedicated ceremony, bringing with her a piece of Tuscany: the certificate bearing the Consorzio’s hand mark.

🤚🏾The mark was engraved by hand on a steel stamp by Incisori Fiorentini,( 2 reels ago) specially created for Luca’s award.

🏆The trophy itself carries another story of craftsmanship. It was made by Sevilla Smith, a Spanish artisan known for reinterpreting classic women’s leather shoes through contemporary craftsmanship — each pair hand-dyed, styled to order and made by hand.

🫶🏾Different crafts, two different places, brought together through the same language: the language of making.
The hands of a Florentine engraver, the hands of Tuscan tanners, the hands of a Spanish artisan, and the hands of a new generation of designers — connected by a shared passion for craftsmanship.

🫂And in the final moment, Luca, Liz and Diane were joined by Nick Dunn, who accompanied this year’s Craft the Leather edition as one of the participating tutors. If you followed our stories last May during Craft the Leather Week, you may remember seeing him along the way.

✈️From Chelsea to Tuscany, and back again.
A story made by hands, carried forward by hands.🤲🏽

The Penny is our take on a classic, quality natural leather, hand-stitched Pennny loafer. Here's the story of how one of our all-time favorite styles came to be 🥿

We love the look of overdyed soles 😎 It gives the natural soles on our shoes a whole different edge...a little more refined and sleek, for a slightly more elevated look.

You can add overdyed soles to any of our shoes! Happy stepping 👯‍♀️

Did you know that The Marta, like all of our styles, got its name from a real-life inspiration? Shout out to Marta, a shoemaker who was working in the workshop with Faye at the time of the inception of what have become two of our favorite styles - someone we loved having around, fitting for shoes we also love having around! When it came time to design it's rounder sister style, Faye asked Marta what she'd call it.. Watch to find out who inspired the name of The Pepa 🥹

Catching inspiration from color combos around town- sometimes we spot things that inspire us to experiment with our shoes.

Have colors that are calling to you? Let's get them walking!🚶‍♀️☀️

Hello from August in Barcelona, where everything seems to move at half-speed under the warmth of the deep summer sun. There’s a certain deliberateness taken with every step...an easing off of any pressure to rush, a real relinquishing to the European swelter. We're learning to lean alllll the way in.

Are you taking some slow strolls in your Sevilla Smiths? Nothing beats it! 🐌🥿🌻
