Learning Like a Plant» (2022–2025) realisiert. ℹ️ Weitere Informationen ➡️ artprize.aestheticamagazine.com #hgkbasel_fhnw #hgkbasel_nextgeneration #art_education #design_education #kunst #design #basel #dreispitz @fhnw.ch @hgkbasel_hyperwerk #hyperwerk #ixdm

Thank you, @aestheticamag, for a wonderful day filled with inspiring conversations and exceptional contemporary art. Congratulations to all the shortlisted artists and this year’s winner @felipecastel. It was a privilege to experience such a diverse range of work and to connect with so many creative minds. Every day in York seemed to bring a little miracle—whether offered by nature or by the people I met along the way. And what are the odds of meeting a fellow Hungarian, @fruzsina.vida so far away from home in the north? It was a lovely surprise. Honoured to have my work included in this year’s Longlist. Thank you for a memorable day. #AestheticaArtPrize #contemporaryartists #york #ConceptualPhotography #creativecommunity

We’re thrilled to share that our MA team member Felipe Castelblanco has been shortlisted for the Aesthetica Art Prize 2026 with Tunda. 🌿 Tunda is a cinematic work developed within Plants_Intelligence. Learning Like a Plant, an SNSF-funded research project hosted by IAGN at HGK Basel FHNW. Through his socially engaged practice, Felipe works across cinema, participatory methodologies, and territorial research, exploring more-than-human relations and collective ways of knowing. As a lecturer in our MA Transversal Design programme at IXDM, Felipe brings these questions into the classroom, inviting students to approach artistic research as a collaborative, situated, and experimental practice. Congratulations, Felipe, on this well-deserved recognition! ✨ Tunda will have its UK premiere at York Art Gallery, where the Aesthetica Art Prize exhibition runs from 17 July to 15 November 2026. Tunda was realized within the framework of Plants_Intelligence. Learning Like a Plant, a research project funded by SNSF and hosted by IAGN HGK Basel FHNW. The work was co-commissioned by Haus für Medienkunst and supported by Stiftung Niedersachsen. @hgkbasel_fhnw @felipecastel @hgkbasel_criticalmedialab @hgkbasel_hyperwerk @stiftungniedersachsen @swissnationalsciencefoundation

Undisciplined Ethnobotany 2–3 June 2026 Orangerie du Jardin des Plantes, Montpellier, France Presented as part of Undisciplined Ethnobotany, the 2026 Annual Meeting of the @societyforethnobotany (SEB) The exhibition brought together artists, designers and researchers whose work explores plant-human relationships through film, photography, sound, installation, textile and participatory practices. Rather than treating plants as objects of study, the exhibition approached them as co-creators of social, cultural and ecological worlds.
