After 39 years of marriage… Eric and Frances finally went to a Comic-Con together! ❤️

We’ve done a lot over the years, traveled overseas and across the country, shared life-changing experiences, celebrated the birth of our children, and stood together as we laid loved ones to rest.

But today was a first!

Frances has told me on several occasions that she wanted to attend a Comic-Con, so today we made it happen. We went to the Epic Mighty Con in Wendell, North Carolina, and we had a ball! 🎉

Usually, I’m there representing Giant Star Entertainment, but today I was in civilian clothing, simply there as a fan of comics and pop culture. We hung out with the cosplay folks, checked out the vendors and artists, and just enjoyed the whole experience together.

Afterward, we shared a lovely dinner.

I think this can officially be qualified as date night. ❤️

Ever Upwards,
Eric & Frances

After a couple long weeks of teaching workshops, art exhibitions, art openings, and participating in a couple of festivals, Labor Day evening gave us something even more valuable, family time. ❤️

With our young people home from college breaks and Ethan home from the United States Air Force, the whole family was together: my wife and I, Erica and her boyfriend Sean, and Ethan and his girlfriend Asia. We spent the evening together over pizza, laughing, talking, catching up, and simply enjoying one another’s company.

As busy as life can get, moments like this remind me that the greatest treasure is family.

Family. Love. Togetherness. That’s what Labor Day was really about for us. ❤️🍕

Today at the African American Cultural Festival, we were blessed with a visit from Sensei Vernard Williams Jr. of SnapKick Martial Arts and enjoyed reminiscing about the dojo.

Sensei Williams guided my son Ethan McRay through a transformative karate journey, teaching him discipline, focus, perseverance, respect, and confidence. Those lessons continue to serve him today as an Airman First Class in the United States Air Force.
It was wonderful to see Sensei Williams again.

Thank you for helping shape the man Ethan has become. 🥋🙏🏾🇺🇸

As many of you know, our son, Ethan is currently serving as a recruit in the United States Air Force and completing Basic Military Training in Texas at Lackland Air Force Base.

For the past two months, communication has been limited. We've only spoken with him by phone three times, and most of our updates have come through handwritten letters. A real throwback to another era! Through those letters, we've followed his journey from the challenges of basic training to some truly impressive accomplishments.

I'm happy to share that Ethan graduates next week!

He has passed all of his tests, earned Marksman classification with the M4 rifle, and is excelling physically. His endurance, speed, push-up, and sit-up scores are among his strengths. He says he's in the best shape of his life, getting leaner, stronger, and more focused every day, and still attends church weekly.

His confidence, discipline, and sense of purpose have grown tremendously. As parents, we couldn't be prouder of the man he is becoming and the path he has chosen.

We look forward to celebrating his graduation next week and the beginning of the next chapter in his Air Force journey.

AIM HIGH,
Eric McRay 🇺🇸

Congratulations to our daughter, Erica, on being hired as the Summer Art Camp Coordinator Intern at Artspace in Raleigh, NC!

As a father, moments like this fill my heart with pride.

What makes this achievement especially meaningful is that Artspace is a place where she grew up, learned, created, and found inspiration. To now return and serve the next generation of young artists is a beautiful full-circle moment.

I've watched Erica's dedication, hard work, and passion for the arts grow over the years, and it's rewarding to see those efforts recognized through this opportunity.

Erica, your mother and I are incredibly proud of you. Keep growing, keep creating, and keep making a positive impact on the community that helped shape you.

Ever Upwards, Dad ❤️🎨

Sunday — Day 2 of @Artsplosure 2026 was amazing! 🎨

A heartfelt thank you to all of the new collectors and returning collectors who stopped by Booth C48 and supported my work. Your encouragement, conversations, and enthusiasm truly made the day special.

It was an honor to be part of such an incredible celebration of art, music, creativity, and community in downtown Raleigh. Days like this remind me why I love being an artist.
