THANK YOU @monadnyc FOR TRUSTING MY VISION!!

Two photographs I took were featured in “Love Letters to Philly” on July 31st, 2026.

I asked a handful of my coworkers for their time to pose as models. I asked them to wear footwear that they commute in or that they have a very intimate relationship with. The result was a variety of colorful shoes. To symbolize travel, I posed one group of my coworkers on one of those dot-textured squares on a sidewalk (they’re called Truncated Dome Pads), and captured the other group of coworkers in movement through a train station.

The purpose of this project was to recognize commute as a feature of modern labor, and realize what parts of our bodies and personalities are shaped by it.

WE MAKE THE ROAD is a show hosted by Vox Populi gallery. It is curated by Ella Konefal and KT Pe Benito as a fundraiser show for the W.E.B. Dubois Movement School for Abolition and Reconstruction.

WE MAKE THE ROAD is my first show after graduating from Morehouse College and features 39 other artists. My chosen artwork, OUR CHILD IS BORN AND DIES IN THE WAR, is a memorial for the tens of thousands of children who were killed in Palestine through genocide by Israel.

WE MAKE THE ROAD is open at Vox Populi Gallery until March 29th.

When I imagined myself at the end of my undergraduate journey, it wasn’t this. In fact, I surpassed my own expectations. My mother earned her degree in marketing, and my father who also went to Morehouse studied engineering. So naturally not a lot of people would expect Africana Studies to be my bread and butter.

But I made that major my own. I couldn’t be happier with the decision I made 4 years ago to both come here and study the detailed history the diaspora. All of my accomplishments, my triumphs, they made me who I am. Just as the failures did as well. Speaking of which, here’s what I’ve managed to do in 4 years time.
