When I met with the @techniquetrainingny team, they made it clear they wanted to provide the highest level of quality across the board: elite striking, top level BJJ, and the strongest foundation for strength training.

Respect to the Technique Training team for putting their members first, and allowing me to host a workshop on the squat, lunge, and bend movement patterns.

Understanding the biology and the kinematics allows for longevity and efficiency on and off the court, field, and ring 🥊

Coach Mo taking Nick through a different approach to rebuilding after major knee surgery.

A little over a year ago, Nick underwent surgery to repair a ruptured patellar tendon. This session focused on continuing to restore strength, stability, confidence, and control in the affected leg while connecting the mental and physical sides of recovery.

The session included:

• 5 trap-bar isometric deadlift reps with five-second holds to produce force under controlled loading and rebuild lower-body strength.

• 3 cycles of triangle excursions to challenge single-leg balance, proprioception, knee stability, and control through multiple reaching angles.

• 8 reps of our Single-Leg RDL Color Match, combining strength and balance with a Stroop-based decision task. Nick had to process the displayed color, ignore the written word, and match the correct dumbbell head to the corresponding cone while maintaining control on the repaired leg.

The mind-body connection is discussed often, but rarely trained with this level of intention. At MB1, we create exercises that challenge the brain and body to perform together because physical recovery is not only about rebuilding tissue. It is also about rebuilding movement, trust, awareness, and confidence.

Looking for a more intentional approach to your strength, performance, or recovery? Contact MB1 to work with Coach Mo.

You can talk about mental performance. Or you can experience it.

Great time showcasing MB1 alongside Winter Olympic skeleton athlete Jared Firestone and giving attendees a hands-on look at how we approach mental training differently.

From focus and reaction to cognitive challenges and performing under pressure, people got a chance to experience mental performance beyond the traditional approach. And from the reactions we received, they were definitely in for a treat.

At MB1, we believe mental training should go beyond talking about performance. We create experiences that challenge how you think, react, focus, regulate, and execute when it matters.

Having an Olympic-level athlete like Jared alongside us only reinforced that message: the mind is part of the performance system. Train it accordingly.

Appreciate everyone who stopped by, competed, asked questions, and experienced a little of what we’re building at MB1.

Innovation. Application. Execution.

Training your mind when you’re comfortable is one thing.

Training it when your heart is pounding, breathing is elevated, and your body is screaming for attention is something completely different.

That’s the point of this drill.

We elevate heart rate close to max, then immediately challenge **working memory** with an Item Span task: see the information, hold it, and accurately reproduce it under pressure.

Why?

As physiological intensity increases, your brain has to manage more competing demands. Attention can narrow. Working memory can become less efficient. Decision-making can get rushed. The information you normally process easily becomes harder to access.

But performance rarely asks you to think while perfectly calm.

Athletes have to remember assignments while fatigued.
Fighters have to process openings while exhausted.
First responders have to make decisions with adrenaline elevated.
Executives have to communicate clearly when the pressure is highest.

So instead of separating the mental from the physical, we train the interaction between them.

At MB1, we call this making the intangible tangible.

Don’t just practice being focused.

Build the ability to access focus when your physiology is trying to pull it away from you.

That is mental performance training.

🧠 Or book an MB1 coaching session and let us build a performance system around the actual demands of what you do.

Train the mind. Stress the system. Build something that transfers.

For the past decade, MB1 has worked across sports, military and law enforcement, education, community wellness, technology, and human performance.

What began in 2016 as a way to systematically combine physical and mental performance has grown into something much larger—an ecosystem of programs, applications, digital tools, content, training experiences, and practical resources designed to make complex performance concepts easier to understand and apply.

Now, we are entering the next phase.

Through **Project MB1**, our goal is to raise **$10,000 over the next 31 days** to support research, development, technology, and the continued creation of tools that help people perform better in sport, work, business, and everyday life.

Contributions begin at $25**, and every level includes something in return—from access to Pocket Thoughtz to consultations, workshops, coaching sessions, and practitioner or organizational development support.

This is more than a donation. It is an opportunity to support the next stage of MB1 while gaining access to resources that can help you build, grow, and perform.

Every contribution matters. Every share helps.

Innovation. Application. Execution.

Most training develops one part of performance.

GYM-R develops the entire system.

GYM-R is MB1’s innovative performance training program designed to push human adaptation the way it was meant to be—integrating physical, mental, and cognitive training into one complete experience.

Every session begins with real-time HRV biofeedback using HeartMath, allowing you to see how your mind and body are responding before training even starts. From there, we move into The Prime—our signature process that prepares the brain and body to perform together.

Then it’s time to train.

Strength. Speed. Agility. Reaction time. Decision-making. Memory. Focus. Stress regulation. Cognitive performance.

This isn’t just a workout. It’s performance training built for how humans actually perform.
