POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Here are my five entries in the 2026 @pressclubdc annual members' photo exhibit.

1) A Lake on an Island in a Lake on an Island

This body of water is the Arethusa Pool, a glacial lake on the small island of Mou Waho which is located in Lake Wānaka on the South Island of New Zealand; hence it is a lake on an island in a lake on an island.

2) Kookaburra Sits in an Old Gum Tree

While hiking near Sydney, Australia in February, we looked up and saw a scene right out of the famous Australian children's song "Kookaburra."

It goes like this: "Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree, Merry, merry king of the bush is he. Laugh, Kookaburra, laugh, Kookaburra, Gay your life must be!"

3) Harpers Ferry Turtle

This turtle was sunning herself on a log in the C&O Canal near Harpers Ferry, West Virginia.

4) Tasmanian Kangaroos

Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary rescues and rehabilitates injured and orphaned wildlife in Tasmania, Australia. Whenever possible, the goal is to release animals back into the wild. However, some of their kangaroos never learned the survival skills needed to make it on their own. These permanent residents now live as part of a large "mob" or "troop" at the sanctuary, where they are safe, well cared for, and free to roam.

5) Sandy Cay Sunset

While sailing around the Bahamas in May, we witnessed a gorgeous sunset at Sandy Cay, made famous in the 2003 “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie starring Johnny Depp.

Some landscapes are only seen by those willing to rise before sunrise.

Leigh Scott and Mark Cohen of Focal Pointers ( @focalpointersllc ) plan their adventures around light, hiking long distances and positioning themselves before dawn to capture snow capped peaks, alpine lakes, wildflowers, and misty mountain ridges at their most breathtaking moments.

Their photography is professionally printed on metal, acrylic, and canvas, transforming powerful outdoor scenes into lasting works of art.
