back in kl 🇲🇾 for: the culture ✨

managed to squeeze in some time to bring @evanwoonisaacs to @fono.kl (made some new friends that night!) and did a bit of secondhand shopping at @hellolooop 💫 also went for shisha at this mamak (since it’s banned in sg, lol) in ttdi but it’s not really a thing now since vape is way more popular 💨

kl really has changed so much in the past 2 years but one thing that hasn’t changed: the traffic 🚗🚙🚕 i really did not miss that, lol.

Kuala Lumpur is a city of rapid growth. Its ambitions are reflected in the skyscrapers downtown and world-class sporting events.

Fortunately, there are districts that still cultivate back-alley trading, a local art scene and places that seem to have their own rules.

I was in KL just for a moment compared to Thailand. I was welcomed with some good music at Studio Fono, great books at REXKL and Junk Book Store, and a Formula 1 race to finish it off. And the rest is yet to be discovered next time.

Malaysia, you've got character 😎

Live postcards from how we spent our Sunday with @fono.kl + friends on the decks and @cyrus.unite taking over @rasasentosa.jandabaik ‘s kitchen. 🎼🍔

💃Families and friends everywhere, people dancing, talking, laughing and just having a good time to a great beat.

A special thank you to everyone who got a ticket and took the risk with the questionable weather forecast, haze and rain included, and still showed up for us.

🍭🌞Somehow, we were lucky enough to have clear skies and a cotton candy sunset to end the day.

A special thank you once again to @fono.kl + friends, @cyrus.unite and everyone who spent their Sunday beneath our trees. 🪾

🎋Till the next one!

From Galleries to Grooves! 🕺🪩

This Sunday, we are bringing together two forms of cultural expression that have always had a place at Sentosa, art and music.

Before the dancing begins beneath our trees with fono Hi-Fi & Friends, join @omaratsentosa for a Guided Garden and Gallery Tour through Sentosa. ☘️

Explore our three galleries and private collection with Omar as he shares the stories, histories and details behind the art and artefacts we have collected and preserved over the years.

✨To celebrate Sentosa x @fono.kl l , fono ticket holders can join the tour at 20% off, RM72 per guest instead of RM90.

🌞Sunday, 27 September 2026
🌞Tour begins strictly at 1:00 PM
🌞Limited to 25 guests

Then, from 3:00 PM, we move from galleries to grooves for an evening of dancing under the trees with tunes by FONO Hi-Fi & Friends. 🪾🧑🏻‍🩰

🐠 Submerge Night is here! 🛟

Join two post-ironic indie kids and their friends to jam out on the 4th of September. We'll be playing indie and indie related tunes and jamming with samplers and random instruments.

🌟 Come as the most stereotypically dressed indie kid and stand a chance to win a roll of Kodak Gold 200. 🎞️

👔 Wear your all black outfits with your Anaabu vest, FutureMade cargo pants, Carhatt bucket hat, GoodPairSocks socks and Keen shoes or Dr. Martens.

🪡 Come swagged out with handpoked tattoos and septum piercing.

📷 Bring: your overpriced P&S film camera and Kodak charmera, "vintage" Casio watch and record the whole thing on your blurry CCD with a busted mic and never transfer it off the SD card.

From Indonesian groove merchants to global dancefloor heavyweights and a collaboration rooted in Orang Asli culture, this week’s events calendar has plenty to get into.

We’ve picked out a few of the ones that caught our eye, alongside a whole lot more happening around town. Here’s what’s on our radar this week. 👀
