Sound performance, 9 – 19 bamboo intruments and performers, since 2024

Tintin Patrone is a German-Filipino sound and performance artist based in Hamburg. Her work explores the relationships between music, sound, visuality, and experimental gesture, with a focus on how collective practices shape social relations and negotiate identity. She is particularly interested in the human conditions of technology and works with robots, artificial intelligence, and non-human performers to question notions of subjectivity, embodiment, and presence. Her projects combine artistic research, collaborative production, and performative situations that remain accessible, humorous, and physically grounded. Patrone studied at HFBK Hamburg and has been working internationally across performance, installation, and long-term re-search-based formats. As a musician she has performed at festivals like Skaņu Mežs (LV), Intonal (SE), Meakusma (BE), Unsafe&Sound (AT), Lacking Sound Fest (TW) and Les Digitales (CH).

Staffan Westerlund (*1950) is a visual and conceptual artist based in Härnösand in northern Sweden. His artistic practice is characterized by an intuitive and unpredictable approach that seeks encounters between the personal and the public, the banal and the extraordinary, and the abstract and the figurative. Painting serves as a tool of resistance, opening up spaces for questions and capturing moments of both clarity and uncertainty. His work with sound and performance explores the boundaries between peace and violence, fiction and reality.
Over the course of his artistic career, Westerlund studied film and photography at the former Dramatiska Institutet (now Stockholm University of the Arts), as well as fine art and, more recently, sound art. He also taught for many years in preparatory art programs. Since the 1970s, he has exhibited his work throughout Sweden in art centres, museums, and exhibition spaces, including Sundsvalls Museum, Luleå Konsthall, Liljevalchs in Stockholm, Västerbottens Museum, Fylkingen Stockholm, and Bildmuseet in Umeå. Only two days left!

The Master‘s House

FINISSAGE EVENTS

Sat 19 Sep

Come visit us and discover numerous young, exciting, and budding artistic voices from the far north—from the Muthesius School in Kiel—and perhaps even a rising star or two on tomorrow’s art scene. You still have two days to gain a fascinating insight into the art classes led by the outstanding artists Almut Linde and Andreas Greiner. Students are presenting their projects—developed in collaboration with curator Almut Hüfler—on the significant issue of structural violence.

With a grand finale—a curator-led tour, a panel talk and a concert—the Muthesius School bids farewell to Berlin once again.
