Decorex 2026 . . .

Popped in for a quick look around and say hello to a few friends at last week’s Decorex.

The absolute highlight for me was the central ‘bar’ area. Always located quite centrally in the pavilion, usually completely exposed, and with a traditional type of bar setup.

This year it was totally different. The powerhouse that is Alex Dauley of @alexandriadauley @aevencollective created the most beautiful space to meet, relax and network.

Not only did she enclose it, enveloping it in deep burgundy and a billowy, linen tented ceiling, Alex and Grant Pierrus, the co-founders of @aevencollective turned it into a collaborative concept, showcasing artists and makers, called ‘A Seat At The Table’.

To find out more visit @aevencollective and @alexandriadauley

The beautiful drapery was made and installed by the very talented @twhinteriors

And it was so welcoming, comfortable and easy on the eye I ended up staying here and chatting for ages 🫶

Congratulations my beautiful friends @alexandriadauley @twhinteriors @grantpierrus 💕

One installation. So many individual expressions of creativity, craftsmanship and design.

As we close this chapter of A Seat at the Table, we want to extend our thanks to every designer, maker, collaborator and visitor who played a part in its success. It has been a privilege to bring so much talent together under one roof.

If you're not yet part of AEVEN Collective, we'd love to welcome you. There's a place for you at the table, and a whole industry to connect with.

The bar area at Decorex 2026 caught my eye for its mix of chairs—and held my attention once I understood the thinking behind it.

Created by Alex Dauley and Grant Pierrus of AEVEN, ‘A Seat at the Table’ is exactly the kind of project I love: a strong concept that gives the whole scheme a purpose.

One detail I particularly appreciated was the open call, welcoming contributions from makers who weren’t exhibiting at the fair. Their work became part of a space where designers could sit, explore and discover someone they might otherwise never have encountered.

Giving that idea a physical form took its own collaboration: Williams & Yates collected 70 chairs and 14 artworks from across the UK, covering 1,800 miles.

For me, this captures an exciting direction in British interior design. Sharing knowledge, experience and ideas—and recognising the many people whose skills make a project possible.

So much to take away from somewhere you might have stopped for a coffee.

A SEAT AT THE TABLE
Earlier this week over at Olympia……@decorex_international opened with a brilliant central feature, the brainchild of @alexandriadauley and @grantpierrus.

I have a lot of time for these two. They are full of positivity, and passion for what they do, open and inclusive.

Promoting their new initiative @aevencollective, Alex and Grant brought together 70 beautiful different, handcrafted chairs from across the UK to represent us as individuals within the design industry and how we all have a seat at the table.
Such beautiful pieces from talented makers that inspired conversations and connections throughout the week.

Really worth looking through the full catalogue on their website.

And just like that, A Seat at the Table has come to a close.

Four days of extraordinary craftsmanship, meaningful conversations, new connections and a wonderful reminder of what this industry can achieve when we come together.

To every maker, collaborator and visitor who took their seat at the table, thank you for being part of it.

The installation may have come to an end, but the conversations and connections it inspired are only beginning.

There will always be a seat at the table.

A Seat at the Table has come to life, bringing together an extraordinary community of makers, designers and collaborators through a shared celebration of craftsmanship, creativity and connection.

On Monday morning, we had the pleasure of hosting the AEVEN Makers' Breakfast, bringing together the people behind the pieces for a morning of conversations, introductions and new connections.

After months of planning and collaboration, there was something particularly special about hearing the stories behind the work and seeing relationships form around the very pieces that brought us together.

At its heart, A Seat at the Table is about creating space for these exchanges. A place where independent makers can share their stories, have their voices heard and take their rightful seat within the wider design community.

The chairs and pieces brought us together. The conversations are what will carry us forward.
