After the #valleyfire Changed our lives/livelihood forever We Decided to Stay & ReBuild our Homes & Create Beautiful Furniture from our Burnt Trees🌲

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Welcome your weekly @harleydavidson post brought to you by @ironsteedhd from Vacaville CA.

It took two attempts, but finally all the work is complete!

Huge thank you’s to Ric @winecountrymachinetool for his diligence and insistence on perfect vs being good enough. The wheels had to go back after the first go around. Ric’s suggestion of the pulley being powder coated too was spot on. Do not hesitate to reach out to Ric for precision work that you want done right the first time.

I’m really glad for the push from @greg_clouse3 to get the wheels blacked out! That’s what friends are for! I appreciate you Greg!

Next, ride the bike with 13psi in the air ride shocks and see how they absorb bumps in combination with the @michelinusa Commander III tires installed by Jesse @cyclegear_pleasanton. Starting pressure will be 34psi in front and rear.

This will be my first ride on a Harley so there is a ton of work to do with ergonomics as this bike does not fit me at all. I tools on the top box so I can make adjustments as I go. Planned ride time is an hour and that should be on point.

Fuel next and then get this ride/task completed!

First challenge is to stop putting my feet on the asphalt when I take off from a traffic light or stop sign. I’m failing miserably at the moment…!!!

Your DMT Friday question!

Custom builds……. Do you love them or hate them?

This type of build is by far my favorite as I get to work with a builder and owner where a created vision becomes a produced work of art. I rarely get this kind of treat and opportunity…..

In this case, a 900 Supersport torn down and rebuilt as a cafe custom. Wow…..

My neighbor Greg Clouse came up with all the design concepts via his talents that are evidenced by his exceptional work with wood @greg_clouse3

Ric @winecountrymachinetool took the base design and tore into the chassis, components and engine to create a perfect custom with meticulous attention to detail.

For those looking for this level of focus with a build and absolute commitment to detail, please contact Ric via 707-513-0918. It is money well spent! He has my GT550 at present.

I put a base setting into the bike for sag, preload and damping as front and rear are fully adjustable. Greg will ride the Saturday afternoon and I will have done data from the ride to enhance the baseline.

A custom bike with full custom geometry, ergonomics, suspension and chassis to play with!

This going to be an awesome project and I am very grateful to be included in it.

Your Friday DMT question!

We all love to personalize our motorcycles. In this case, the Grom was built to compete in a 24 hour race on a go kart track, then a second set of wheels was purchased for some off road fun!

Share a video of your upgrades to show what you decided to change!

Truly Thankful and Grateful today for all the support and opportunities to make our dream a reality. First up, my family...@beardedbrewer9663 "Josh" the man behind the scenes, that knows the how to my vision. If I can see it in my head, he can build it. He would work all day and then go to the cabin and work more, until dark. My mom @maryann_nanja_hiser for all the support and going along with our crazy ideas and dreams and helping out with the kiddos when we were working at the cabin all day and night. To our kids, @logan_wood132 and @lillypad2457 for putting up with us, helping us out when they didn't want to and helping us clean the cabin after a guest. Our best friends @grace.intheface "Grace" and @tjecobb "Travis" for thinking we were crazy but not telling us to our face and instead pop in unannounced with a box of beer and making us take a break, drink a beer and relax for a few. Travis also helped with pouring the concrete countertops, and thank God he did! I'm not sure, but Josh and I would have needed a lot of counseling to keep us married if I had to help. @jennifer_wall_realtor "Jen Wall" our realtor who helped us snag this beauty in Whispering Pines. She's the best and if you need a real estate agent in Cobb she's your lady! @greg_clouse3 "Art by Design" Greg was one of the most helpful and instrumental people on our project. All the walls and some of the back of the cabin ceilings are all lined with reclaimed and repurposed Valley Fire Pine Trees, all the shelving came from our own trees on the property we lost to the Valley Fire. Greg and his son Jake milled and rabbit jointed all the wood for the cabin that transformed the cabin to the most charming and unique interior. We asked a million questions about sanding the floors, staining, and all things wood and Greg helped us make this wood beautiful. All of our neighbors in the little community of Whispering Pines have been very kind and helpful and patient in our process. And to all the guests who've stayed and will stay at the Emerald Cabin we are truly Thankful and Grateful for you all. Have a great Thanksgiving Holiday and we feel blessed by you all. 🍂🌲🍁💚 Your Host: Samantha

The stories behind the photos I take are compelling, and part of what makes my work so gratifying. Connecting with other people who are living their lives with passion is nothing short of inspirational. Meet Greg Clouse, owner of Art by Design on Cobb Mountain, California. Greg is a general contractor turned artisan who is partnering with his son Jake to create incredible wood pieces from local trees burned in recent wildfires. Where many would see charred despair in these felled trees, Greg sees opportunity to rebirth beauty from the ashes. He mills, dries, and hones the wood from these trees into masterworks of unique art. Each piece is one-of-a-kind. He and Jake’s handiwork will soon be on display at the new Adam Springs Golf Course Event Center, where they crafted the bars and live-edge wall panels from reclaimed trees. It’s a legacy that is helping this community heal after the devastation. Such a privilege to photograph Greg & Jake for the new Explore Cobb website!

Fun little project I am wrapping up for another Etsy customer. Lots of learning, lot of fun. Big thanks to @greg_clouse3 for his help with the wood top. Would have been in a world of hurt without him! #metalart #fabrication #furnituredesign #furniture #makestuff #lakeport #lakecountycalifornia

When your home burns down in a California wildfire & you draw up plans to rebuild a modern industrial farmhouse, but then county codes prohibit your build, so you kiss goodbye thousands of dollars & buy a preloved home instead... you start to think you CAN'T... but with a little imagination & elbow grease, you actually CAN still get the space you envisioned!

This weekend, we built our first @rusticahardware barn door from reclaimed wood (see previous post). Rustica sells an amazing steel door frame kit that made this possible (HUGE thanks to our friend @mdmalaccorto for telling us about it - and for the staircase inspo, too!). Swipe ➡️ to see a better view, and swipe again to see the BEFORE (plus my big 'ol laundry pile at the time🤦‍♀️🤣). Use code JAMEY15 for 15% off any style Rustica door, door kit, or hardware!😍

In four years, we've painted, repaired drywall, added a new staircase & front door (made with wood from the burned trees we milled), and a new tile entry. We've done a lot of the work ourselves & had help from a few friends (thank you @flying_hammer_fab, @gregclouse3, and our friend Kelly). We still have another door to build & lots of trim work to go, but we are getting there!

Yep. Actually, we CAN. 😍😍😍

We are now the proud owners of this gorgeous, handmade conference table, which was sourced from reclaimed trees from the Valley Fire. Thank you SO much to Greg Clouse and Chris Bloomquist for creating, and donating, this to us 🙌🏽

I recently had the pleasure of making these tags for some gorgeous tables our friend @gregclouse3 and his son designed for a new restaurant coming to Kelseyville soon -- Carmelita's Cocina (next door to @aandhgeneralstore)! Swipe right to see the beautiful tables 💚. .

Custom is better! Don’t settle for stock art that thousands of people have already used for their own purposes!
