Yesterday for the Inaugural @ourthrosby Seafood Festival! 🦐🦪🍣🛥️☀️
What a spectacular day it was. From our early morning setting up we were blessed with sunshine and good vibes!
The support from the community was outstanding!
So many people came out to see what’s on offer right here on the waters edge. Lots of careful planning and team work over many months brought this dream & event to life.
Huge thanks & congratulations to all who were a part of the day. Bigger & better for 2027! ✨🦐🦪🍣☀️

Got questions about the Our Throsby Seafood Festival? We’ve got answers 🦐

Q: How much does it cost?
Free entry. Come as you are, bring the whole crew! Boat tours with the Commercial Fishermen’s Co-op are $10 per person (includes a drink voucher) and need to be booked in advance. The prawn peeling competition also requires a booking. Everything else is walk-up on the day.

Q: What’s actually happening on the day?
A lot. Live seafood demonstrations including oyster shucking, fish filleting, and a live sashimi presentation with Japanese seafood expert @wellstonefish at 12:30pm. Co-op boat tours every hour from midday. Live music at NCYC, solo artist from 11:30am, live band from 3:30pm. Market stalls, local makers, a dedicated kids zone, and the prawn peeling competition kicking off at 2:30pm. Plus @thealbionhotel has the after party sorted with live music on from 6:30pm!

Q: Is it family friendly?
Absolutely. There’s a dedicated kids zone with face painting and activities, and plenty of space to roam across all three venues.

Q: How do I get there?
Newcastle Interchange is a short walk from the Wickham Waterfront. Trains, buses, light rail, and ferries all connect there so leave the car at home if you can. If you’re driving, parking is available in Carrington, just a short walk across the bridge. Additional parking is available nearby at the beginning of Honeysuckle Drive and throughout the surrounding precinct.

Q: Is the festival accessible?
Yes. The festival is held across Pier 97, the Newcastle Fishermen’s Co-op, and the NCYC, all of which are accessible venues on the waterfront. Please see any Pier 97 staff on the day if you need access to their venue.

Q: What is the Seafood Trail?
The trail runs 7 to 13 September across multiple venues in the five villages. Each venue is serving a seafood special all week. See the venues participating at ourthrosby.com.au.

We can’t wait to see you this Saturday!
FREE RSVP IS IN OUR BIO 🦐
