Hatchet Hall is a rustic, Southern-inspired spot in Culver City that feels like walking into your Nana’s house for a home-cooked meal. Think elevated comfort food, wood fired dishes, and family style dining. Their constantly rotating menu keeps things interesting, but it’s bittersweet when a dish you love disappears. Cozy, nostalgic, and definitely one of a kind 🕯️

• this pasta surprised me, I give it a 7/10. the noodles were cooked perfectly al dente, coated in a rich, buttery sauce that reminded me of carbonara. the pieces of smoked pork were excellent. surprisingly, no carrot flavor came through either!

• blackened chicken I’d give a 6/10 - only because it tasted like a classic chicken but nothing that really stood out here. however, the creamed corn + broth underneath complemented the beautifully seasoned, blackened chicken very well. cooked to perfection and incredibly moist!

• this ribeye was a 9/10! one of my fav steaks they’ve done here. cooked to a perfect medium rare and so tender I could practically cut it with a butter knife. the dijon mustard + garlic butter on top was to die for. so simple, but executed incredibly well. I hope they bring this one back!

• an absolute MUSTTTTT! the cornbread is always a 10/10! a sweet + salty match made in heaven.. from the crispy edges to the super soft, moist center. the butter on top melts into every bite, making the whole thing even more indulgent. you really can’t go wrong with butter and carbs 🧈

• this version of their braised short ribs is an absolute 10/10. the meat just melts in your mouth, and the sweet + salty combination complements the rich flavors incredibly well. the creamy polenta + horseradish is an unexpected pairing, but balances the savory richness of the meat perfectly. I hope they bring this version back for the holidays! feels like a warm hug.

• the turkey meatloaf surprised me HARD! incredibly flavorful, so tender, and paired perfectly with the mashed potatoes + mustard accents. a classic done extremely well!

• the wagyu was incredibly tender and cooked to perfection, but it didn’t pack quite as much flavor as I was hoping

✨🍜 WHAT AN INCREDIBLE NIGHT FOR AN INCREDIBLE CAUSE! 🌱💚

So honored to be part of @foodforward’s Tomorrow’s Table fundraiser, celebrating the legendary @alicelouisewaters — a true culinary icon and pioneer of the farm-to-table movement! 👏❤️

My amazing @wokstarcatering team and I had a blast serving up our signature Miso Butter Udon Noodles with Shiitake Mushrooms to 250+ guests! 🍜🍄 We were thrilled to cook alongside an incredible lineup of talented chefs @realchefdeblee @clemencegourmandise @chefdarayu @emilylaurae @alyssagartenberg @chefmichelle_and_company @seedy______ @alansanz_c @hatchethall all coming together to support Food Forward’s mission of fighting hunger and food waste while nourishing our communities. 💚

One of the biggest highlights of the evening? I donated TWO private dumpling-making classes to the live auction, which together raised OVER $7,000! 🥟🎉🙌 Nothing makes me happier than using my love of food to give back!

Huge thanks to @jessiebrucee @nanhsu and the entire team at @foodforward for bringing together chefs, changemakers, and food lovers for such a meaningful evening and a big shoutout to my Wok Star volunteers @annbkoh @lewkcbmom @amy_von_s @amykesselhaut @hanpham142 @feliciaford 👏👏👏 Special thanks to @melissasproduce for providing the luscious shiitake mushrooms and other produce 🫛🧅🥕

September Recap

Connecticut style lobster roll with warm butter and crunchy crispy fries seasoned with Old Bay. Summer may be over but it’s still 90 degrees @westsideoysterclub

The Brunello with house made roast beef, stracciatella, roasted red peppers, salsa rosa pepperoncini @lorenzolacalifornia can do no wrong

@clemencegourmandise is the queen of butter and this little walk up window is serving some of the best croissants in LA @petitpain.et.chocolat

Not many places in LA where you can get a decent slice but this House Strach from @flourpizzeria with hot honey was crispy, light and I wanted another as soon as I was done.

Looking forward to the day when @bo.re.kas opens in BH… hopefully very soon. The mushroom and spinach & cheese are my favorites. Their coffee is pure octane.

@loumabakery is a sister run Lebanese bakery that just opened. Their croissant and baguette stood out - let’s just put labneh on everything.

Very flavorful and fresh tuna and crab tostadas from @sandamianla I loved everything about this meal

A gut punch of a meal @hatchethall but I enjoyed every second of it. Buttermilk biscuits with strawberry Meyer lemon jam, pimento cheese and butter. A cast iron cinnamon roll and we left no crumbs.

Serving stellar sandwiches on focaccia this is @franknfranks Spicy Italian with spicy salami, stracciatella and arugula. I feel like the theme of September was Strach…

A spicy vodka pep slice has to be one of the greatest inventions ever @apolloniaspizza

Pao De Queijo at @sushisamba.la do they even need to serve sushi?

Fried eggplant on pizza is HIGHLY underrated @pizzawagonofbrooklyn

Those crispy potatoes… those cheesy eggs… there isn’t one dish they don’t do well @hatchethall

@rcprovisions pastrami sandwich fed me for two days @franknfranks

Truly the finest almond croissant I’ve ever had @petitpain.et.chocolat

And of course… @southbeverlygrill always and forever. The platonic ideal of a meal.
