As the school year begins and routines settle back in, practice with some of NYC’s most seasoned teachers - teachers who have been studying, practicing, and teaching for multiple decades. 💫

Prema has been part of NYC’s yoga community for nearly 20 years. We’re proud to still be here, still teaching, still learning, and still evolving with the times while staying rooted in the philosophy and traditions that make yoga what it is.

ADVANCED PRACTICE
Fridays, 2–3:30pm

A monthly deep dive for curious students and teachers ready for a longer, more nuanced practice. Each month, a different Prema teacher will explore their own understanding of what “advanced” means.

Lerve these betches go liiiiiife! Another year and another core memory unlocked with my mer-fam. These trashy mer beings looked so glorious dancing. Not gonna lie I loved pumping them up from the speakers and had no fomo not doing choreo this year. My knees/ankles were thankful and happy and I got the absolute best seat in the house! So proud of you all and how unbelievably creative you were with this theme! Huzzah!

What a beautiful weekend! Mermaid Parade was a little different for me this year since I found out I have spinal stenosis and 2 slipped discs. Not being able to dance has been really truly hurting my soul but marching behind my dance team @thetailshakers still brought me so much joy and I only cried once! Shout to Grace Saul for building the greatest dumpster treasure chest that I got to ride in with my mermom @goodheather 🤡💚 really hoping I’ll be able to dance by the fall but life is a really wild highway right now. Sketches from the parade coming this Friday!

Typically, I start my look for the @mermaidparade at least six weeks ahead of time, but the grief journey had me struggle to find any motivation whatsoever in getting the idea in my head out in front of me. Thankfully, my long time @melina.plottu promised to do a concept together as she was flying into New York for the first time in three years and it was just the creative spark I needed to get me going. In addition, my client and friend @thunyatorn_ng swooped right in heard my ideas and knew exactly how to support me in executing my toilet paper roll wigs. And together we executed it to perfection. @thetailshakers theme this year, which I helped co-create was Filthy Fins: a trashy tail, and every person on my team had to use recycled reclaimed elements in their costume.. my corset is made of all the wrappers I could find in our theme colors. I did not learn any dances… but I had a great time in this Marie Antoinette and King Louie inspired Let Them Eat Trash concept where as the elite garbage we eat our own if we hafto. #mermaidparade2026 #coneyislandbrooklyn #mermaidparade #thetailshakers #letthemeatcake

The whole church was glowing
in sapphire and pink,
with costumes so dazzling
you barely could blink.

Then up through the cathedral,
rose cheers full of pride,
for love in its wildness
no longer would hide.

So we raised up our fans,
our headpieces tall,
for Pride Eve reminds us
there is room here for all!
