The inaugural KZN Art Fair marked an important milestone for the visual arts sector in KwaZulu-Natal.

We could not have made it happen without the generous support and partnership from Hilton College, Hilton Arts Festival, Belgotex, FNB Visa, Panda Paints, ANEW Hotel Hilton, Umngeni Municipality, Contemporary Archive Project, Midlands Meander, Umngeni Tourism and Linertec.

@hiltonartsfest 2026 | A Celebration of Art, Music & Theatre

What a year for the Hilton Arts Festival!

From packed theatres and incredible performances to music, art and a wonderful atmosphere throughout the festival, Hilton 2026 was a celebration of creativity at its best.

This year also welcomed two exciting additions to the programme, with the KZN Art Fair and the pop culture offering from Just Geekin' bringing something new to the mix. Both were warmly received, adding even more variety to an already vibrant festival.

With audiences showing up, shows thriving and so much happening across the festival, it was fantastic to see the arts community come together for another memorable year.

A special thank you to @blackcoffeeeventssa, the festival’s technical supplier, for helping bring the performances and productions to life. And thank you to everyone who played a part in making Hilton Arts Festival 2026 such a success.

Here’s to celebrating the arts, bringing people together and keeping creativity thriving.

Design is about the details.

We loved our Design Zone 'Making Ground' with @belgotex, which celebrated creativity, innovation and making across KwaZulu-Natal.

Bringing together designers, makers and creative practitioners, the exhibition highlighted the breadth of design excellence emerging from the region.

Which pieces were your favourites?

ARTS NEWS:

What if heritage is not something we find in museums, but something we carry with us?

For multidisciplinary artist Sethembiso Zulu, art is a living archive that holds dreams, trauma, emotions and ancestral memory.

He is now turning his attention to a new research project exploring African Independent Churches in uMlazi, the spiritual practices of their communities and their connections to the wider Indian Ocean world.

We caught up with Zulu to talk about heritage, spirituality, finding your own creative voice and what comes next.

Visit the link in our bio for his full story.

Time Out Insider Info: Zulu recently showcased his work at the @hiltonartsfest , giving audiences a glimpse into his distinctive approach to art and heritage.

Rob's doing something a bit mad for CANSA, and it starts with the hair.

Cancer touches nearly every family we know, here in the Midlands and everywhere else. This one's close to home, so we wanted to do our bit and have a laugh doing it.

Every donation helps, even R20. The link's pinned in the first comment.

If you can't give, a share still helps more than you'd think. Tag someone who needs to see this.

A huge thank you to PANDA PAINTS for sponsoring the art materials for our first visual arts Jongosi Day - a day where schools are immersed in making, walkabouts and talks.

Since 1977, @panda_artsandcraftmaterials has been committed to making safe, high-quality and affordable art materials accessible to children and adults across South Africa. Their longstanding commitment to non-toxic formulas, safety and accessibility helped make the day possible.
