🇵🇭 This Filipino Empanada has been all over my feed 🇵🇭 📍 4703 W Foster Ave. Chicago, IL 60630. Albany Park This is an Ilocos empanada & you don’t see it everywhere around here… We tried it at Umaga Bakehouse, where one of the owners, Rob, is from Ilocos Norte and makes these with his mom using their family recipe. Everything is made from scratch, and the rice-flour dough is super delicate, which is why they’re made in small batches. Filled with longanisa, papaya, and egg. Crispy, light, and just might be one of my new favorite filipino foods. They’re only available on weekends and in limited quantities, so once they sell out, that’s it. Highlight of my year was being the best man at my brother’s wedding. I never thought I would experience love in such a profound way until September 19th, 2025. To share the best man role with my brothers as witnesses to Jorian & Jasmine’s wedding brought the last 14 years in full circle. All of a sudden, I was 12 years old again meeting @jayeliz__ for the first time over pumpkin carving at the house. If 2026 brings a fraction of the happiness I felt this night, we are in for a memorable ride.
