Last week, we had the pleasure of joining artist Aysha Amin in conversation at Kulturmødet Mors in collaboration with Kunsthal Spritten.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a conversation on Amin’s artistic practice, architecture, memory, displacement, and the experiences that shape our relationship to the spaces around us.

We’re excited to continue the conversation when Amin’s exhibition Making Sense opens at Politikens Forhal in November 2026.

Amin is the winner of Aarhus Art Prize Solo Award 2025 - a collaboration between Jyllands-Posten (JP/Politiken Media Group), Godsbanen, Kunsthal Aarhus, Aarhus Billedkunstcenter, and ARoS.

It’s that time of year again 🍃 @chart_artfair and @enterartfair are about to open their doors and Copenhagen is awash with the art world.

As always there are some brilliant exhibitions timed around the fairs. If you're feeling at sea about where to begin, here are just a few that I recommended with my critics hat on for @friezeofficial ✨

TEXT EXCERPT

From giant plastic cocoons filled with animal waste inside Politikens Forhal to an enlarged woodlouse at Copenhagen City Hall Square containing compost collected from residents of Amager, visual artist Silas Inoue has created a total installation unfolding across indoor and outdoor spaces. Combining humour and poetry, the project reflects on cyclical transformation and interconnectedness at a time when we must rethink our relationship with nature—and, in doing so, with ourselves.

Opening 21.st of August 16:30-19:00. The event will feature speeches, a DJ set by Hekt and live music by Swedish singer Tiffi M.

I am thrilled to share that a new chapter has just begun as I am starting on the research for an upcoming solo exhibition at @politikens_forhal in Copenhagen Denmark in 2027.

The exhibition will be part of my PhD project that explores if artworks, its processes and gatherings can open up new spaces for dialogue around life’s final phase. In the recent years of the research project I have been looking into the dying process but for this particular exhibition I will be researching about the dying moment of a human being and particularly in the time after with the written words shaped as “obituaries”.

I am very excited to be working with curator @idaschyum on making this exhibition, and to be able to research in the historical achieve of Politikkens newspaper @politiken

The exhibition will open in October 2027. More information and details will come and I can’t wait to share the process :-)

Image: photo of the model of the exhibition space where I will show new work in 2027.

The works and events of this exhibition is part of an art practice based PhD project called
“APPROACHING DEATH: transforming our conversations around fear of dying”. It takes inspiration from non-pharmacological care-methods which I have observed in my fieldwork at different palliative departments in Switzerland and Denmark, alongside with my own training as a Death Doula.
I am a PhD fellow at Zurich University of Arts Switzerland @zhdkfinearts and University of Art and Design, Linz, Austria. @kunstunilinz

Congratulations to Vigga Heisselberg Wæhrens, winner of the Solo Prize 2026 at the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition!

The Charlottenborg Foundation and Politikens Forhal collaborate to select an annual winner for the Spring Exhibition. At the core of this year-long collaboration is the Solo Prize winner’s invitation to present a solo exhibition at Politikens Forhal the following year.

Wæhrens (b. 1999, DK) receives the award for her film Spring is for Sowing (2025) and the sculptures Æresport (2025) and Høst (2025). In her work, Wæhrens explores the connections between place, time, and ecology, combining observation with historical and speculative research. In doing so, she creates new temporal layers that speak to our changing relationship with landscape, climate, and the more-than-natural world.

In their award speech, Ida Schyum & Rebekka Laugesen, Directors of Exhibitions at Politikens Forhal, said:

“At the Spring Exhibition, the acute state of the world always inevitably finds its way into the exhibition. We live in a time where historical and generational knowledge risks slipping away amid ongoing value conflicts and reversals. And it is precisely in this context that this year’s recipient of the Solo Prize becomes so significant, as each work asks us to slow down, to dwell on what is repetitive, what is embedded, what is carried forward, bringing our attention back to the generational knowledge that lies in the movement of hands and bodies.
What unfolds in Wæhrens’ works is marked by great precision, an exceptional sense of craftsmanship, and a quiet but insistent poetic force.
The materiality is unmistakable: everything is carefully arranged, meticulously chosen. The significance of labor and craftsmanship is ever-present—not just as a theme, but as a method, as something that shapes the work at every level, in every decision that has been made.”

We look forward to the upcoming solo exhibition at Politikens Forhal in 2027.
