It's Too Easy

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Some thought it was words, melodies. But it was pictures he saw. From the age of 4, Dvbliew was hooked onto electronic music. He did not truly understand it yet at the time, but the music by Tiesto, Robert Miles, Daft Punk? It felt integral to his soul. He discovered a CD from his uncle's music collection that had deep Techno, Trance, and Progressive House in the early to mid 2000s.
.
A decade later, Dvbliew, Azan Trini would shift from the safety of academia into the uncharted waters of making Electrical Music. He signed up for DJing and Radio Production classes in 2014, being the youngest ever student at the then Vibe Sounds Entertainment, led and taught by DJ Blessing. Few understood the drive that Dvbliew had. The intention. He insisted on Electronic Music as his mainstay, but the curriculum required him to learn how to play all genres. This led to a lot of friction, and eventually, he dropped out and spent a year in isolation after deferring from the University of Nairobi.
.
On August 24th 2016, Dvbliew announced the formation of Apachi Records. The rest as they say, is His Story. 10 years on, the Vision Remains Intact. Service, beyond self. We are grateful for the path that Dvbliew, Azan Trini, forged for us. We thank the entire EDM fraternity for supporting us for all these years. In the beginning, there was a man who they thought saw words, melodies. But it was pictures, a vision he saw.

Dvbliew: Let them cast their sins upon me. I will walk into the kiln. I will set my soul on fire. I will walk into the furnace, with my eyes open. Just to prove that I had the match, and lit it. Some will say, I am a goat. A Baphomet. Some will akinize me to the Phoenix. I am simply A. Trini.

Let's Try Fame for a Change is the climax of IdentityCryses. After retiring in August 2022, I never opened FL Studio for a year. I never even had melodies occurring to me. I stopped going out. I was either at school in Chiromo, or at home in the Abadares or in the White Highlands #racist. Hmm. I kid.

In June of 2023, I felt an overwhelm in emotion. The killing was not helping (#parttimeserialkiller) and I opened my DAW. Found some vocals for Iyanah Kiragu's 4U that she had sent to me in 2022. Knocked out a remix and sent it to her.

Earlier in the year, I had attended her show, and she was not taking all this "I'm retired" nonsense.

"You are always an artist." - Iyanah Kiragu, 2023 Art Cafe, Westlands.

---

She reacted so positively to the remix. I also knocked out a remix for @waturi_ 'No Love'. And he too responded so beautifully. Somehow, that belief was restored to me.

In August of 2023, I started going through IdentityCryses and sampling myself. Remixing myself.

I shared these snippets to my socials and the response from heavy weights like @quass.a @stushii.ke reaffirmed my position.

---

'Let's Try Fame For a Change' is a reaffirmation of me. It is a qualification of my position, intention and prowess. A confirmation of who I am.

The album launch was supposed to be at Santuri Salon. Until the fucking of May 28th 2025. So I found an alternative and did my biggest most successful launch in my entire career. 28th June 2025, 200 metres from a Monstrosity of a Mall that I had been banned from. Infamy.

The Nipange Residency was designed to empower emerging creatives through a hands-on, community-centered approach to artistic development.

Ethos
The residency is built on the philosophy that "Art cannot be criticised; every mistake is a new creation". It emphasizes Creative Freedom by ostering an environment where experimentation is prioritized over perfection.
.

It championed for Collaborative Growth by blurring the lines between teacher and student, often culminating in joint performances.
.
Art is meant as a Dialogue. Expression is a tool for education, cultural preservation, and progressive social growth.
.

The program specifically targets young, emerging artists and professionals in Nairobi who are looking to formalize their creative skills especially those who have been locked out by gatekeepers in their fields.

Individuals interested in sound design, music production, mixing, and mastering.
DJs, Creative Managers and those seeking training in event management and distribution.

We are a home for Multidisciplinary Artists: Writers, visual artists, and performers aligned with the principle of unfiltered expression, literative learning and stretching the limits of comfort.

.
The residency aims to bridge the gap between creative passion and professional career longevity:

Technical training in industry-standard tools for music and event production.
Connect artists with local communities through outreach programs and public showcases like the Nipange Showcase.
.
The 2025 cycle concluded with students performing back-to-back sets with their mentors, directly launching them into the local scene.
