What lie have you believed?
Lately, I’ve been thinking about how easily comparison can change the way we see ourselves and the things we create.
While editing this wedding, I caught myself comparing my work to @danielpullen - I do it all the time 🙂 Who got the “better” shot?? And suddenly I realized how close-minded that way of thinking is - and how it totally cripples me.
We photographed the same day, but we each saw it differently. We noticed different things, were drawn to different moments, and told the story through our own creativity. And when I step back and look at our work together, it’s really beautiful.
Why do I so often look for ways to measure my work against someone else’s instead of appreciating what we each bring to the table?
My friend @iva.brooke has taught me a lot recently about being my authentic self, - not intentionally mind you, just by being herself - and I know that phrase gets thrown around a lot, but I think there’s something really important in it.
God made each of us with different gifts, perspectives, experiences, and ways of seeing the world. We’re not meant to be the same. And someone else being good at what they do doesn’t make me any less valuable in what I do.
Parts of a whole. Different parts of the body, each with its own purpose.
I have to remind myself of this often, but I don’t want to believe the lie that I have to be anyone else or create anything like anyone else to be good at what I do.
I just want to keep learning, keep growing, and keep trusting the way I was made to see the world. 🤍

Huge thank you to @_anutt for giving me so much space to be me this day!! Thank you!! 🙏💜

And the music choice? Little know fact about me… since Jackson introduced me to lo fi years ago, it’s all I listen to when I’m editing.!😊

Beaming with pride, gratitude, and admiration today for my friend @move_with_mary_ who is launching her app!! Working with Mary over the last year on her visuals was such a gift because it allowed me to see her process from dream to launch. I’m so so proud of my friend, and the vision she has to empower women in their bodies, souls, and sobriety journeys. Thank you Mary, from all of us. 🩵😭 we love you. Go download her app! It’s the perfect day for a new beginning. 🔥

Back in Costa Rica for a minute, but this time it’s better because the family came too. So grateful to share this part of my life with some of the people who love me most in the world. And seeing Kasen get his first waves with uncle Larry is unmatched. 🩵🩵
