A Space Gallery is pleased to present Yichen Ji at Spectrum Chicago Art Fair 2026.

New York-based artist Yichen Ji (b. 2003, Shanghai) creates compelling works at the intersection of digital media, installation, sculpture, and printmaking. His multidisciplinary approach examines technology, the environment, and human experience. Ji’s work spans various scales and media, merging digital techniques with handmade elements to create immersive, experiential pieces.

We are thrilled to present Yichen (Jack) Ji as a juror for Visual Art / Installation at the New York Experimental Arts Festival 2026!

Yichen is a New York-based multidisciplinary artist whose dynamic work spans installation, sculpture, digital media, and printmaking. His art has been showcased internationally, with exhibitions at the West Bund Museum, FOCUS Art Fair, Art on Paper, and other esteemed international venues.

Liminal Lucid, presented by A Space Gallery, is a solo exhibition by Yichen Ji examining how perception transforms as natural phenomena are translated into computational form.

In this exhibition, water and light shift from physical reference points to fully digital constructions, reflecting how contemporary experience is shaped as much by simulation as by direct sensory contact. Rather than framing the digital as the opposite of reality, the works approach it as a cognitive space—where vision is modeled, processed, and reorganized. As images detach from material origins and function increasingly as data structures, perception itself becomes fluid and unstable. Here, “lucidity” signals an awareness that what appears immediate may already be layered through abstraction.

ON VIEW: Future Tense, an online group exhibition curated by @soldierboyfriend is now live on myma.

The future is often imagined through spectacle: cities of glass, gleaming machines, sudden ruin. These familiar images extend the present into tomorrow, repeating the logic of technology and capital in new disguises. Future Tense begins elsewhere. It asks how artists approach the idea of the future not as a fixed horizon but as a shifting field of possibility. What is the future, to an artist? Is it tomorrow? Or centuries away? Is it carried in memory, drawn from desire, or glimpsed in a fragile moment of connection? The exhibition brings together artists from around the world whose works resist the clichés of prediction. Instead of definitive answers, they offer fragments: gestures, images, performances, and sounds that suggest futures in motion.

I love a good art show, and Art on Paper New York is always fun because it focuses on, you guessed it, works on or within the medium of paper. This is my third time attending, and it always hits! It’s an inspiring show because there are masterworks alongside up-and-coming artists whose works are more obtainable. I didn't leave empty-handed this year, adding a silkscreen edition of 12 by Yichen Ji to my collection. It’s not framed yet, so you won't see it for a minute, but it looks like digital water and a Tumblr repost from 2010. iykyk

Finalist | Mirrors and Masks International Online Juried Exhibition

Yichen Ji @jackji14 (b. 2003, Shanghai), New York-based artist, creates compelling works at the intersection of digital media, installation, and sculpture. His multidisciplinary approach examines technology, the environment, and human experience. Ji’s work spans various scales and media, merging digital techniques with handmade elements to create immersive, experiential pieces.

His early works were exhibited at the West Bund Museum, Shanghai Greenland Bund Art Gallery, the Shanghai New Art Museum. His works have also been included in charity exhibitions held by China Life Insurance and are part of the Leo Gallery Collection in Shanghai. In New York, Ji has exhibited at Atamian Hovsepian Curatorial Practice and A Space Gallery. He also co-created a 9,000-square-foot mural for the Manhattan Park Pool Club on Roosevelt Island. Ji continues to push boundaries with works that are both conceptually and aesthetically compelling, marking him as a distinctive new voice in today’s art landscape.
